Holy sh-t, you're right. That was cool. Wanna do it again. My plan is to get to BCC full time or full time winters. Like this year.

I think I maybe even took that shot.

    changing of the guard

hiked gad valley the other day
    passed construction on the way
    something new something fast
watched them take the old away

climbed above the noise and cars
    passed familiar ice age scars
    old beliefs never last
    fading of evening stars

    gazed at the valley below
past ridges that we all know
    images unsurpassed
    bathed in a gloden glow

hard to explain how i feel
    past memories are so real
    colors nailed to the mast
    faded as the old bullwheel

    i am the line

    cold shiver down my spine
keeps it real in my mind
    moon sliver on ridgeline
    climbing for the best line

friends they come times they go
loves we love foes we know
    borrowed time whispered praise
    beyond win, place, or show

    you remember the time
    wasatch sunrise sublime
    simple as simple rhyme
    tangent to my cosine

    others may wonder when
it is time to drop in
    unheard above the wind
i say i am the line

Hey Slaag: I saw on another thread that your son rolled his car. Here's hoping he and everyone are OK.

    transcendent fear

a star fell from the sky
    just the other day
    fell down some broken spine
    happens all the time

    media write it up
    too many are lost
    but they never tell us
    what is acceptable loss

    gold is made either way
    the slow mo recap
    leashed harness on bliss
    sponsers look the other way

    the conquerors of fear
    the masters of fate
    the lords of destiny
    we all gather near

    empty shells of a life
    bankrupt of being
    que like vampires
    transfusions of meaning

    by climbing the ridgeline
the truth is plain to see
    the ego must die
    the soul we must free

tribe vibe indeed Brian!!!! my son said that the brakes failed, he skidded and went over. tumbled and rolled ending on the other side of the creek!!!! this time of year the creek is dry. fuck!!! he is over 6' but the roof was still 6" above his head. he forgot about being upside down and like in the movies tumbled onto his head when he unbuckeled. he was trying to get out of a window when someone (? but thank you very much) came down and told him to wait until he could move some large rocks and open the door. amazing that the drivers side mirror is just fine.

so they say things happen in 3s. same day my youngest daughter sprained her ankle pretty bad on the neighbors tramp. then couple days ago my youngest son dropped a 45lb weight - as in york - on his foot breaking his pinky toe in 4 places. all things considered, i am deeply grateful!!!! tribe vibe was on their side!!!!!!

2 snaps of a finger from me Slaag. Tell everyone you love 'em and to chill for a bit. After a stretch like that, it's good for them to dial it back. But you knew that.

...and so we idle and spin and pretend. until the ache for deep mountain bone cold surpasses our will to desire. less ache. more memory. the frigid embrace of our loving mother of ice and snow!!!!

    tribal burial grounds

the bliss brothers did a bike/hike up the western flanks of mount olympus yesterday to tend the tribal burial grounds and scatter the sacred remains of a fellow skier. "the spot" is a high point on west ridge leading to the north summit. this rocky area is next to a col that forms a wind tunnel. on the other side of the ridge the loud wind rages non stop. on the memorial side of the ridge it is calm and serene. we like to start the season by remembering friends we have lost and keeping promises that were made.
