My 04-ish wr450 has been down more than a colfax hooker and has taken a ton of damage.

I'm thinking of going to a husqvarna TXC310R because the 450 is a little too big for single track at rampart. My knees are going though and nobody wants to ride anymore so it's not looking good.

Anybody have a good mech around denver? I used t fogg but they seem to be too busy anymore and I just don't have the time to give my bike the love it needs.

Awesome. A new world awaits. XR100 was my first.

Edit: Apparently I already posted in this thread.

I got the fever again and bought a KDX200 and KX500. They cover a range of extremely balanced to suicide machine.

Thanks guys. Any advice on gear for the kid? Was thinking of a chest protector and some boots to start. He's working for those... See that wood pile 🪓

Helmet, goggles, boots, gloves. I'd probably get some kind of padded underlayers before a chest protector but I've never used a chest protector for what has been almost exclusively trail riding.

OMFG. I wanted a YZ80 so bad. My parents were dead-set against, and with good reason. Eventually got an FZ-6 / street which as been fun for almost 10 years now. total fuckin pussy with it, hate going even 50, but so far have had zero incidents of any kind. well. I'll fuckin chase you down and yell my ass off at you if you cut me off but otherwse...

    In order:
Any kind of protective gloves (leather work, mtb, mx, etc)
    Good fitting, modern tech helmet
    Good fitting modern tech boots
Elbow and knee/shin guards (cheapo is fine, like $20/set)
    Chest/back protector
    Goggles

Good start here. I cannot stress enough that woods riders should be wearing a modern stiff mx boot. There are tree stumps and rocks hiding on the edge of singletrack seemingly everywhere.
