The Unofficial Ongoing Current Movies in Theaters thread

Throw you comments/recommendations/criticisms in here for movies that are currently in the theater. Or don't, this is unofficial after all.

Going to the movies with my squaw today and am looking for a recommendation. It looks like a mix of regurgitated scyfi crap, some 6th iteration movie where Vin Diesel pretends that he isn't 5'2'' again, Wedding Crashers 2 and a Johnny Depp movie that doesn't star Johnny Depp.

Where to turn? Am I missing a gem?

Wife, daughter, and I saw Man of Steel a couple days ago. Two thumbs sideways and one thumb down.

So, we saw The Internship as we both needed something that wouldn't completely offend our hangovers. We got what we paid for. Vaughn and Owen refilled the best friend roles well. A couple laughs, some air-conditioning and a failed handy request. Pretty par for the course.

    World War Z sucked

completely went away from the book, which is a bad thing. Wasnt a good movie even if you didnt read the book, Walking Dead on AMC for FREE is way better. fucking stupidest zombies in awhile, and the "fresh new take on zombies" they promise (I.e., the premise of millions of them acting as a horde, like ants would), you see the best parts of in the previews.

Agree, although I liked "chompy" outside the pathogen lab where Brad was trapped.

Saw White House Down yesterday: moderately entertaining.

The BAD review of White House Down was "best Die Hard movie this century". Funny Vanity Fair piece on World War Z...even funnier now that it sounds like the movie is a POS

    Superman sucked
    World War Z was entertaining
    Star Trek was good

I always ignore the "the book was way better" comments because I don't read fiction books. It's nice to not have a storyline you are constantly comparing to a book while you watch a movie, then judge the movie on how true it was to the book. Being lazy and illiterate has its benefits

    I liked Superman.

Star Trek was very entertaining. Good retelling of the Khan story.

Now You See Me is pretty good. Good plot twist at the end.

I'm wondering what the hell this upcoming Wolverine movie is about. Haven't we seen just about everything there is to see about Wolverine in the last few years?

Lone Ranger - I can't recommend it, but the wife said she "enjoyed it."

Europa Report: interesting but fundamentally flawed - sort-of smart people cracking under pressure and not following standard safety protocols on an alien planet.

    Duh.

WWZ was ok. Entertaining and yup I liked the chompers.

Believe it or not there are some nuggets from the book. The book, however, was still vastly superior. It's like they didn't even try.
