I'm not familiar with Thule stuff, but those look alot like yakima control towers.

IIRC it is the Yak "Landing Pad 1"
"control towers" are what you need to clip in to those...
edit: also, can't quite tell from the pics but if those are as old and UV'd-out as they seem, I'd consider new landing pads... if they are cracked and brittle you might lose a load (not in a good way)...... jfost is really ignorant, he often just needs simple facts laid out for him...

all the above advice is correct. you need yakima control towers.

Is there only one type of "control towers"? It seems I may have found some locally for a good deal.

yes, as long as they are the control towers, there has only been one version ever.
