got out tonight from 1030-1130. dumping with about 4-5 inches down when I got home. singletrack had a good 3-4" with no issues on the 4.0 vee rubber v8's. lil slip slide here/there, but really good riding. 18 degrees and puking sideways

even the coupla miles each way on the roads to the trails were fun and mostly untracked pow.

I've had one of the original purple Pugsleys since 2006. I don't use it a whole lot in the dirt but really love it in winter. When the skiing goes bad, as it inevitably does in the East, the fat biking gets good. I sprung for studded Dillingers this winter, as the Endomorphs are pretty slippery in most snow conditions. Damn tires cost more than my first MTB, a 1986 Schwinn Sierra... but I digress. I'm sure there are certain conditions that would warrant 4.8" tires but I'm not a big guy and a majority of the time my set-up is excellent.

Rog, psyched to read that you went fat. Let's do some slogging this winter.

Icy off camber, went down hard. Might need the studs.

let's do it rob! I've got one adventure in mind that would involve an 8-10 mile road ride/climb, then a 2.75 mile snow climb, then an 8 mile 3000 vert foot descent on trail back to town for coffee and a cookie

you ever done "that" ride? it's right by you

Damn, I can't even think of an 8 mile road climb nor 8 mile descent, even on the rockpile! Are those measured in man inches?! Count me in and bring yer towrope. I have a mobile number for you that begins with 774; is that still good? I am 496-5853, you know the area code

fun fatbike sno ride this am at Stratham alps. but WHERE ARE ALL THE FUCKING 300 LOCAL FATBIKE RIDERS THAT PUT CYCLING IN FRONT OF THIER BETTER HALVES AND KIDS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO ONES OUT RIDING THAT I COULD TELL!!! so much fucking snow here. too much, thigh deep in places so it seemed. many trails were plenty packed tho from various forms of traveler. new bike rode great fer sure. will run a bit lower pressure next time.

so far my fave condition on the fatty are, a few inches of freshly fallen snow over hard frozen ground. second would be regular dirt/summer type singletrack riding. and 3rd, packed snow trails. ok, but doesn't blow my hair back. pow or dirt FTW!

anyone wanna buy a lightly used 2013 kona unit 19"? 500.00. only rode it from late july-november this year

Slush is the most difficult surface to ride.
Today we had freezing rain over a 4" snow pack.
I had to ride out of the clips because I was gunshy from falling yesterday.

Got one for Christmas (Norco Bigfoot). It's hilarious. I love it. So stupid simple and fun. I have actually ridden it on snow, but it also does quite well on the sand/salt flats.

I find that I prefer sand riding, it's almost always rideable. Snow, especially not machine packed, is anybody's guess.

Is that the Spiral Getty? If it is, it's much higher than I've ever seen it.
