lots of progress at cottage grove bike park!
"finished" the 4x track, its fully rideable top to bottom but has plenty of work that can still be done (isnt that always the case?) and wont be officially opened by the city for a while still
city came out and put in some rain gardens to help with drainage
got some groms out in full force to throw some dirt!
full day of diggin in the MN sunshine and humidity kicked my ass haha
water water water
compact compact compact
slap slap slap
test
test
test
slopestyle course is being put on back burner for now, pretty much out of dirt and the line we were hoping for just didnt work out as planned, efforts will be going toward prepping for the pump track that IMBA will be coming to put in for a trail building class they are holding on site next month
the crew is pretty much spent after some hot weather, lack of volunteers, and working rocky dirt... but gotta do what ya gotta do to make fun shit to ride!
any MN folk we are having a fundraiser next month on the 14th, and it should be a pretty kickass party in the park, silent auction with some cool shit, foodz, booze, test riding, demos, and a wall of beer!!!

its finally that time of year again here in minnesnowta, the snow is gone, ground is thawed, and dirt needs to be moved!
went on a scouting mission around the local xc trails the other day, found a nice sized chunk of wood across the trail...
dirt is thawing nicely and trails should be opening in a few weeks, giving us just enough time to get a head start on some berm work and other patch jobs
whats the good word?
anybody got some fun projects going?
ive got some interesting news, but it gets its own thread soon...

This is awesome. I can't contribute until things get legit here in Flag but we are only about a year out. Please keep the pics coming so I can live vicariously.
Some beautiful work in here btw.

Still need to finish up the pump track but the snow isn't quite gone yet.
Forty, we're just wingin' it mostly. Finding that building good berms is the hardest part so far!

well its finally the season, staying plenty busy...
spent a day working on my tan
happy rake
sad rake, short life of 1 year almost to the day, time to test that warranty...
had some IMBA folk in town checking out the cgbp
put them to work
then let them play a bit
had our first volunteer day of the season, pizza, brew/soda, redbull ladies, bike goodies, and an army of slaves with rakes!
got the pump tracks buffed and ready for their glue, we are giving them a soil stabilizer treatment and trying out some new techniques
next step is more coats and more buffing, then moving onto 4x track to do the same after we get some tweaks done, pretty stoked on some of the adjustments
got a shit load more to do before opening of the park to the public in a month, damn is it really only a month away?
what are you kids up to?Last edited by forty; 03-17-2016 at 04:07 PM.

A tree down across the backyard trail led to an opportunity for a new feature. Was going to make it a jump, but the angles of the trail were all wrong, so I went for a teeter instead.
We'll see how it works out, it's at the very start of the trail in a spot where you need to build speed for the rest of the run so it may turn out that teeter may kills too much speed. I'm going to test it out after I finish my Mil--ler high life.
Thing one checking it out after helping me rake in the in run. He also helped me rake all the berms and trannies yesterday. I knew I had kids for a reason...

checking back in here, what has everyone been up to so far this summer???
after getting 30inches of rain so far this year in the twin cities, which is the norm for the ENTIRE year, including some 4+ inch days, things are off to a bit of a late start to say the least...
but we have been getting some shit done
xc trails underwater
lots of locals bitch about the trail boss nazis closing at the mention of a drizzle, this trail system sees 800+ riders on a nice weekend day so there are plenty of complainers, this should shut them up, the effort these kids put in to get shit open is above and beyond
redneck style
results, trail = open!
i cant claim any of their work that day, as i was busy with another project, which leads me to...
grand opening for the bike park ive been working on was last week!
2 pump tracks and 4x opened up to public with great reception
last night we had our first imba bell grant visit with the one and only randy spangler to work up a design for the dj area
oh me oh my oh nooooo, its gonna get rowdy up in MN is all i can say!
cant wait for the crew to come out later summer and start building rad jumps with us
this sums up my season, the remnants of solstice marathon 15 hour dig day
get dirtyLast edited by forty; 03-29-2016 at 11:28 AM.

50 spots full open till close weekends + after work crowd, its nuts, getting to be damn near the same in winter with fatties
pooch approves
"Is it test chase you on the bike time yet?"
so rad to work on a design with a rider of such caliber, cant wait for the build team to come back and get a chance to share a shovel with some pros, hoping to learn a thing or three
