You know them. The ones that wave you to make a left turn in front of them at an intersection.

like everything else in life, there's a correct place between too much and not enough. Too nice can be just as irritating as not nice enough.
Are they impeding more people than they are helping? Then they are seattle nice.
Are they just being nice? They you are a cunt skiballs. Betting this is the correct answer.
Like these guys?
Where I am traffic is as bad or worse then just about any major city in the US. People here rarely use their horns, and realize they're all in the shit together. I've seen more breaks given and left turns/waving people on in a few years here than I have in my entire life. It's refreshing and makes a commute much more enjoyable.
Well, that and back roads to avoid the 16 lane wide gridlock known as the highway system here.
I still call it The Jake.
If people in ATL honked, it would be all you would hear 24/7.

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
"Happiest years of my life were earning < $8.00 and hour, collecting unemployment every spring and fall, no car, no debt and no responsibilities. 1984-1990 Park City UT"
I this little corner of VT, it drives me nuts! There are two traffic lights in my town, one of which I drive through every day to and from work. On the way home there is a left turn lane that I use to turn onto the side street (no left turn arrow). Occasionally, I hit the red light. Usually there will be one or two cars waiting at the light coming from the opposite direction. When the light turns green, more often than not, the lead car on the other side tries to wave me trough. However, that side of the intersection also has a right turn lane that is sometimes being used. I can't keep track of how many times someone is coming up and turning onto the side street using that turn lane that the waving driver doesn't know is there. I sit there and the waver gets pissed at me as I give them the "what the hell are you doing"look/motion.
By now more cars are coming from the opposite direction. If they would have just followed the rules of traffic, they would have cleared the intersection, and I would have been able to turn before the next group of cars arrived.
Why do people feel they need to be overly polite, it end up causing confusion and can be dangerous.
If this was Boston, I wouldn't have this "problem".![]()

Thanks, I forgot about this song.

Yep, that is fairly common here too. Being nice when you are driving is letting a car in (either from a side street when you're stopped, or into your lane when there are 2 lanes). Being nice when what you are doing is blatantly contrary to the rules of the road, such that nobody expects you to do that, just causes problems. Nicehole.

I live in a very small town of polite canadians some of which have never been out of town, they may have
memorized that book to get the license but usually they just wait for someone else to go 1st so of course everyone waits even if they know the rules cuz they don't want to seem too aggro/uppity and besides everyone is busy waving at someone they know and since you can get anywhere in 5 minutes or drive right thru town in 10 ... whats the hurry eh?

I dunno, I grew up in the ATL and drove like a total asshole for years. I've chilled out some since, but am still not afraid of using the horn.
People in the south are experts at insulting you with complements. My aunt can tear you a new one with a smile on her face. You won't even know it till you are driving home and you are like "wait a minute, I can't believe that bitch said that to me.".
actualy yes cuz since we are 13hrs from any major market there is almost nobody here and its like day 60 so whats the hurry ... it could be in yer mind?

My mantra: "Wait your turn. When it is your turn, go."
OP, why must you enable HC's Seattle hating?
I saw a mind boggling example of this a couple weeks ago. Guy has a green left arrow. He pulls out half way and proceeds to wave the waiting pedestrian across the street his is turning on to. Of course the ped is confused but eventually crosses. Meanwhile the light for the through traffic turns green and the guy is still sitting in the middle of the intersection. Not only did he endanger himself as a sitting duck in an intersection but he endangered the pedestrian. Thanks a lot nicehole.
I love when old folks stop in the middle of traffic and wave for me to go when they have the right of way. I am at a business, I have to cross into a middle turn lane on a four lane road w/center turn lane to make my next turn about 100' away. I look at them, they are waving frantically for me to pull out in front of them. I hold my ground as there is now a quarter mile of traffic now having to swerve around them into the left lane, just sitting there oblivious to the fact that they are almost getting rear ended every couple seconds, they keep waving for me to go. I put my motorcycle in neutral and take my hands off the bars, they keep waving, by now the lane they are in is backed up and people are getting mad. They are still waving for me to pull out in front of them. I turn my headlight and bike off. After what seems like ages, they stop waving for me to go and pull away looking like I just ruined their day. Traffic is now backed up two lanes deep and as far as I can see, I get to wait several light cycle to make a turn 100' down the road.
Also, I drive a 44 year old motorcycle. I don't have signals, I just use hand signals. I am a cracker/white bread honkey of very Finnish decent. I've been yelled at by dark skinned fellows thinking I am giving them the "black power" sign on right turns.
