One part "Shit I Built", One part "Poly Ass", One part Brothel, All parts bar
I'm pretty tired, but figured I need to post something up. Our bar is now open. Opening a bar in Utah is a challenge to say the least, but we pulled it off. Technically we could have been waiting another 18-24 months for a liquor license, but we had a ton of local support and the state really liked our project. We restored a 100+ year-old building. Put on a roof deck, etc... It was roughly an 18-month project from purchase to doors open. Lots of insane hurdles to jump. Hutch helped us with the legal end of things and MOE worked on the remodel with me.
I'm still doing all my normal daytime gigs and getting the bar going (staff trained) and I'm relatively exhausted, but I'll be back to post photos and a proper TR soon. I've attached one photo of the roof deck, one of the interior, and one of the a recent sunset from the roof.
Here's a link to the Facebook Page that has some photos and info.

Sweet! You need to host a Utah Mini now. Imagine how much coin we'd drop.
Daniel Ortega eats here.

That is seriously cool.
How did the city of Ogden allow a whorehouse in the city limits? Wasn't it settled by MoMos?

Thanks guys. I'm sure after we've been up and running a few months I'll finally feel the sense of a goal being accomplished, but right now I'm just learning around the clock... I've never even worked in a bar before let alone ran one or trained others to. Crazy stuff, but our staff is awesome. Really long road to get here, but we did it right.
telebobski, Ogden has a crazy history. The city illegally licensed vice for 80 years. Virtually every building on Historic 25th St housed a brothel on the uppers floors at one time or another. The last occupant of the space our bar occupies was the Rose Room Brothel 60 years ago. Notorious place. Known for the finest prostitutes... The whole design of the place plays off the old whorehouse. The drinks are named after famous madams as well. We try to promote the history of the city.

So very cool. Will definitely stop by next time I am in town. Congratulations on seeing your hard work pay off.
You probably know this, but since you mention you have never worked in a bar thought I should mention it. Employee theft is more rampant in bars than any other industry-run as tight a ship as you can.

Sweet bar. Definetly will visit my next trip to SLC.
Keep and monitor daily sales and inventory. If you review this stuff daily you'll realize when sales drop off when certain staff is on or inventory is used up. One pretty cool policy a bar had that I did a calculation for was they allowed their staff to comp anyone a drink, food etc, they just had to put it into the system, they pretty much never questioned the comps entered in. But if they caught someone not entering a drink or food in, they were fired on the first offense. Owners said it was a very successful policy.
Empowered and happy employees are less likely to steal than those who feel it is them vs management.
