Nice to see a big, cold storm for us in CA. 30” in town made for some deep pow skiing and trail breaking. Today the sun came out. Another shot coming Sunday. 5 laps of this today, I’m smoked

The mountain got nuked by the wind but there is some fast smooth wind buff to be found. Really windy today above Helen

Any word on snowpack conditions for Lassen? Seems like the north half of the state dodged the persistent weak layer issues the rest of us are dealing with down in the Sierra?

PWLs seem to be relatively unreactive but still out there...

The December 11th PWL exists in the Lassen area as well. Schralph posted this link upthread:

Cheers, definitely missed this while scrolling through the latest posts.

Luckily the PWL looks like it's consolidating nicely under our latest storm; hoping we get a nice dump or two to really settle it down for the spring.

Some pics from shasta this weekend. Seems like maybe 3-4ft at bunny, which is kinda low for this time of the year. Lots of wind scouring up high with exposed places pretty bony. 1 day after the storm most stuff below 8k exposed had a skiable zipper crust, but scoot over to anything slightly w facing and it was still good.

Dawn patrol sunday before the kids and wife woke up:

GB/Broadway - this part was great, above it was grade B windboard , with lots of areas scoured down to rock. Got pretty windy and the SP bowls were getting loaded (w winds).

Actually, I took that pic in the morning and I just thought it was abandoned. But when I got back to the car, I hear a rustling in that direction and a creature wearing an orange one piece snowmobile suit emerged (Lemurian? Sadly no, but he was friendly actually). #vanlifeshasta.

Anyone have beta on Hotlum/Wintum coverage? I hear Shasta is looking unusually bare this spring.

^^^^^ you’re not kidding......the west face looks horrendous with hardly any snow on the upper pitch (the best part)
Brewer creek road was still 15 miles out last week reported by Shasta avy center..... but coverage looks decent on hot tuna
