People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Kinda sad this thread hasn't been posted in for 6 years.

I'll reboot: I'm thankful for tree ripened peaches, a purring cat snuggled in bed with you and air conditioning.

Having a hard enough head and bone to survive an unexpected trip down the outside concrete basement stairwell without breaking anything. And so thankful for my wonderful wife who saw it happen, who called 911 and tried to help a very confused and combative man while his head was spurting blood all over the kitchen and bath. What a way to start 3 weeks of holiday!

Thanks! Despite taking a few stitches the head is actually just fine and thankfully no major concussion. My shoulders and wrist seemed to take the brunt of the impact and they are where all the hurt is at the moment. Missing out on a very fun 50th b-day celebration in Pemberton today, but hope to get the family on the road by Monday to continue to Vancouver Is. I should be stronger in the arms than my 6yr old by then - LOL

Also, I am thankful that my children are healthy, and my wife supports, or at least tolerates my ridiculous lifestyle

Today is the 10th year anniversary of the all time hottest temp ever recorded in my home town of Terrace B.C. where temps hit a scorching 103 degrees F. Juxtapose that day with today...first night this summer where temps dipped into the single digits on the C scale and daytime high temp will be about half of what the record breaking day presented. Having developed a pretty debilitating heat intolerance issue over the past decade, i'm quite thankful to have had a cool night's rest and to have experienced the novelty of feeling autumnlike coziness wearing pants and a light fleece softshell for the morning walk with one of our cats.
