Holy shit. That’s a rabbit hole of epic proportions.
And it never occurred to me that a small coconut exists.
But alas. King Arthur had a normal size coconut to make his horse sounds. So I think it’s a fair cop.
And. There is only a South African swallow. So saying there’s an African swallow is a trick question.

It annoys me when companies don't put their prices online. I'm just going to go to alibaba and cut you out of the deal or find a knockoff there instead.

To you it's boring. To me it's fascinating to get a glimpse of the workings of commerce that the average consumer doesn't see. The cc business makes me glad I'm not a merchant. Another quasi-monopoly--Big Electric Guitar, dominated by two big players (although the smaller players do just fine in this case). Example--if Mom and Pop's Guitar World wants to carry Gibson they have to order and pay for all the guitars Gibson says they have to carry--the ones that sell and the ones that sit on the shelf for years. There are enough other options that some shops do decide not to carry Gibson, but that will definitely cost them business, especially from people who like guitars with headstocks that snap off if you sneeze. Or ski shops that are restrained from lowering prices until a date determined by the manufacturer. REI gets to cut prices a week before everyone else.
More and more small business are getting squeezed. For the most part consumers don't get screwed as badly--until there's no one left but restaurant chains and big box stores.
Anyway, to me it is never boring to learn how the world works. To each their own.

It annoys me when I go to some company's website looking for something I need and they pop up window asking me to sign up for their newsletter or emails or whatever. On my first visit. Why the fuck would I do that, I don't even know what you have for sale yet.

^^^I’m annoyed by the cookie disclosures. I know that’s not how anybody ever intended it to work. But I don’t give a shit about your cookies. If I did I’d keep it on porn mode.
focus.

I'm annoyed by people hijacking a thread with a multi-page discussion complaining about a multi-page discussion that previously hijacked the thread.

Shit that annoys you
Waiting all day for a service call (the fourth one, for the same issue) for a fridge that is less than a year old.
Never buy an LG refrigerator.

Ice maker?! Not on my budget lol.
No, the air channel that passes cold air from the freezer to the fridge area keeps getting blocked with ice. (something I discovered after the first unsuccessful service call).

I was at the tire shop today getting my winter tires off and some dude rolls in with a flat. Tire guy goes out to look at the car, they come back in arguing about the fact that the tires are shot to shit with exposed cords everywhere. It escalates, there's some shouting, eventually the shop guy tells flat tire dude that he legally can't touch his tire and even if he could he wouldn't know how to fix it since it's mostly metal wires with tiny bits of rubber holding the thing together. Flat tire dude is screaming that he just got saddled with a $30,000 doctor bill and he can't afford new tires. He eventually stormed off, presumably driving on the rim.
I was annoyed for him cause nobody should end up with that kind of healthcare bill. I was annoyed at him cause he's most likely going to be driving up LCC next time it snows. With those same tires still on his car."Your wife being mad is temporary, but pow turns do not get unmade" - mallwalker the wise

23 day stay in the hospital, 2 helicopter rides. Haven't even started talking about the bill yet, but will probably start reading up on chapter 11 soon.
Past 3 days have been deciphering the meds, including the 2 versions of discharge paperwork and fucked up prescriptions. Should not take 3 people and a phone call to a very helpful nurse to figure out what someone should be taking.
Oh Canada!

The good and the bad of American medicine. Surviving what is usually a fatal or severely disabling event (my sister-in-law just died of the same thing, went down for a nap and didn't wake up)--with a catheter procedure instead of an operation that would have been required a few years ago. Horrendous bills and disjointed care OTOH. Although in your mom's case the mixups on meds and discharge instructions sounds like maybe too many doctors with no one clearly in charge? That's on the hospital and the docs.

Yep.
Come to find out (I got told yesterday) the recent issues started after they put her on a med Thursday night, clearly a side effect. Took until Sunday evening for someone to catch it, but before new order was entered they dosed her again and caused the shitshow that ended in restraints.
Thankfully ICU staff stepped back in yesterday and helped us square everything up.
No idea wtf the discharge issue was this morning but you'd think they would double check that shit.

Oh and found out today that 3 people on that side of the family have passed from aneurisms in the past 40 years.
Think my CT/MRI will be covered under preventive care?
