Now I'm in Baltimore for a few days to make the rounds of all my various Doctors. I'm in this apartment we rent here because my wife's business is here and they started in with a jackhammer downstairs at 8:01 AM today. Fortunately I was out for a few hours but they are still getting after it. I can literally feel it, the building is vibrating. Then they stop for a minute or two and it's bliss. Then they start again. Annoying.
There were people fucking at the show? Loud fucking?

And now I am annoyed that in looking at the amount USAA paid on the claim, they altered the numbers from the estimate I received (and the price I paid) so that my $500 deductible turned into a ~$700 deductible (because I paid what the shop actually charged). I have contacted USAA, no response yet.

For those of you who say that you have not seen evidence of USAA's decline, count yourselves lucky, because the rest of us aren't imagining it.

Does USAA give you the ability to work with a local agent or is it all call center?

I got frustrated enough with USAA’s poor service a few years ago that I pulled everything I had with them. I now use them to pay bills and write checks and that’s it. I have some old credit cards with them that I keep active, too, but just to maintain my credit score. I shop insurance with them every few years but rates are always at a premium.
    focus.

    All call center, AFAIK.

After rapidly responding to everything, it's now been over 48 hours and no response to this.

2 houses over off the back deck new owners are having a rager of a bonfire. Can’t see the mountains because of wildfire smoke today but hey why the hell not.

Finishing up a 2 month PNW MTB trip. Getting out of WA and OR just in time then find the places I wanted to hit in CA on the way home have outrageous smoke. AQI was showing 760 in a couple spots.

Yep. We had a clear summer (though I was gone for most of it, first to PNW, then to an extra dusty Burning Man), but the smoke is here with a vengeance now. At least the worst of the heat has passed, so sealing up the house is tolerable. I guess there is no escaping smoke season, despite my efforts.

My dogs and my kids have an annoying tendency to follow from in front. They don’t know where they’re going, they just want to go where we’re going. And they want to be first, as long as we’ll lead.
    focus.

hah! The inverse of that is also annoying - at an appointment where you don’t know where to go but the person taking you there wants you to go first
