I have an APAP, my issue is more hypopnoea than apnoea. I think there's a bit of a racket in the whole sleep disorder industry that is unfortunate because there are some folks that have serious issues that need serious treatment and a whole lot of other folks that are being fleeced.

Zoom appointment with my GP and I mention that I feel tired when I wake up. He hooked me up for a zoom appointment with a sleep doc. So the sleep doc has me sat AAAHHH into the camera. Then he says to make an appointment for an overnight stay. Not gonna happen. I'm just not a morning person and I've got 3 other specialist already on my dance card. Annoying.

WTF are you all doing with your vehicle batteries? Bought my truck in 2014 and the original battery is still strong

My wife's '13 Subaru did the same. Battery went dead a couple days a week. Bought a new battery, still went dead. Took it to the dealer, nothing wrong. Did 6 months with the jump pack, it was fucking dumb. It took me probably a year to convince her the thing was a piece of shit and to sell it. I do not miss that car and she still talks about how much she loved it.

    Shit that annoys you

Since my divorce, we’ve had a shared custody arrangement with my 2 dogs. Basically, they follow the kids. This has been good for the kids (I think) and until a few weeks ago I didn’t have anything in the way of a yard, so it was good for them to have a chance to spend time with her (still tiny) yard. She’s tried from the beginning to axe this arrangement and have the dogs live with me, which I resisted on account of the yard, mostly just by not agreeing to it and pointing out my lack of yard situation.

She doesn’t take good care of them, doesn’t particularly like them, and doesn’t even contain them in her yard - the invisible fence broke about a year after I moved out and she hasn’t managed to fix it. Every 6 to 10 months there’s some incident that results in her trying to strong arm the dogs into my sole custody. She long ago stopped participating with vet appointments and the bills that come out of them.

Fast forward to now - I have 8 acres outside of town, no visible neighbors, and a working pet containment system. Figured I’d wait until the next “event” and jump on it. Happened pretty much immediately a couple weeks ago with a story about my one dog biting a young child. I don’t know the details and the whole thing is so out of character for the dog that I’m pretty skeptical about what happened. Be that as it may, she says the dogs need to live with me now and I say “sure!”

Then I get a phone call from her boyfriend about how maybe we just need to manage the whole thing, and if they have stuff going on or visitors or need to be out of town the dogs stay with me, but if they don’t then the dogs can come along with the kids. This doesn’t feel like how dogs work…. They aren’t a timeshare, subject to your convenience, but…again, I say “sure!” They say they’ll still keep the dogs for an upcoming out of town trip/mini vacation that I was taking the kids and my girlfriend on this past weekend.

Apparently, the dogs got into her garbage a couple times, and then one of my dogs (the other one) bit her and growled and snarled at her boyfriend when she pushed him off the couch and then crouched down at eye level to yell at him. This dog IS challenging, especially with other dogs, though I’ve NEVER seen him act aggressively toward a human. He’s also very much my dog…he listens to others, but not 100% - though on reflection he listens to my girlfriend pretty reliably. He had some separation anxiety issues that were only resolved by getting the second dog. He’s since, after a lot of patience and effort, mostly accepted my girlfriend’s dog into his pack.

I wasn’t there, and don’t know the whole story, but when she told me about it I told her it probably makes sense for the dogs to be with me for a while, at least; let things calm down, see if there’s something going on with the dog (any hint of aggression), etc. No, now she just wants the one dog, at her convenience - the one who “bit a kid.” I guess now it wasn’t really a bite; she was just herding the kid and didn’t break the skin, leave a mark, or seem aggressive. I told her no. Now she’s waging a campaign through the kids.

    Annoying as shit.

TL;DR: My ex wife is annoying, per expectation.
    focus.

Problem is you took it to the dealer. There's a small Amp draw somewhere. I has a ma draw on my 2005 Outback that was a pain to track down. If a battery doesn't last at least 6 to 7 years, you bought a shit battery, never clean your terminals or drive less than 2 miles most of the time

Speaking of dealers, it's REALLY some shit that annoys me when they have you by the balls for a service that only they can do because a part needs to be VIN coded.

My steering lock on my Volvo is mechanically failing. Been ongoing for a couple years now but getting worse so I can't put it off any longer. Essentially, when the lock doesn't retract, the car won't let you start it. Calling dealers around the state and it's the same story everywhere. They want to charge damn near $1000 for what is about a $160-200 part and about 5-10 minutes of install time, if that. I'll concede they need a bit more time to do the VIN programming part, but not 6 hours worth. I told them I've already removed the steering shrouding and part's already pulled and set aside. Literally just needs new part popped back in and coded. I keep talking to clueless service advisors who clearly have never been mechanics and won't cut me a break AT ALL. I'm not trying to be unreasonable here and would be glad to meet them halfway, but I don't appreciate getting blatantly ripped off either. Called every local Euro shop and they've all told me they'd love to do the job but it's one of those parts that only dealer has the computer for. Sunnuva...

Same story for the ICM (infotainment control module) I need to get replaced too at some point. Also a blatant rip off, but at least not having a radio doesn't prevent the car from starting so been rocking the Bluetooth stereo here and there when it decides not to work. Haha.

There's this fucking ad for a door lock on TV where the actor says "Google find me a door lock video" or some shit like that, and my stupid smart TV opens Youtube for door lock videos and I gotta reset that shit back to the TV program I was watching.

Looking forward to a future where some dipshit kid can turn the heat up to 90, fire up the blender, stereo and tv, and order a bunch of dildos to his neighbor's house by shouting through the mail slot while they're at work.

I learned when I was a teenager that I couldn’t afford Volvo repair bills when the bill for a cracked headlight lens was close to $400. This was in like 1999.

I’ve also never had a dealer charge me egregiously over what it actually takes to do the work. So if it is easily accessible and you don’t provide the parts to put it all back together they shouldn’t charge for the full time….

I'm usually not annoyed by stuff but today has been trying.

I just spent an hr trying to seat beads on new tubeless tires. Maybe 1.5 hrs, I lost track.

Whatever happened to ordering a pizza for the neighbor. That's what we did in my day. And the independent pizza place I worked at used to order fake pizzas from Little Caesar when things got slow.

    Have you seen this?
I don't follow the topic much, but I was really surprised that much of what "benefits" CPAP is assumed to have, there's pretty thin evidence of benefit. (Meaning that CPAP *might* be beneficial, but the studies that support that it is beneficial are weak. Not a good place to be, IMO.)

I've got no dog in the fight, but it's interesting reading.

yeah, i know there is some dispute. since i started using my cpap, i haven't been able to tell much of a difference in quality of sleep. i still wake up feeling tired and that tiredness persists throughout the day. but it really helps with my snoring (or so i am told) and since i am about to be living with a roommate, i can't afford to not use it.

Central or obstructive? If it's OSA you need to read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Breath-New-Sc.../dp/0735213615

"Breath" seems applicable to a wider audience than just apnea sufferers, I just bought it, thanks.
