The only thing I can conclude from this is that you're utterly inept at vetting, interviewing and hiring people. If someone really pulled a stunt like that you got played so many times it isn't funny. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Way more common then you think. When you are hiring young people at a starting wage, it's difficult to keep them interested long enough to get to a point where they're committed enough to earn a decent wage. Not talking about fresh collage grads, or folks with mouths to feed. Young, ged level kids with no life experience, living at home(aged18-25) are for the better part a complete shitshow to deal with. Seen 200 or 300 come through the door, about 20 were superstars. The rest? Some will, some won't. So what. Next!

I'm putting on a thing again this year. I wasnt going to do it again, because I didnt have time to do it all myself but I caved to pressure and divided it up amongst myself and 4 others. They had a week and a half to do something that would take about an hour, tops.

One woman hadn't gotten her share done wednesday so I asked how it was going. She said she would get it done and I said to let me know asap if she wouldnt be able to so I could figure something else out.

So this morning, after I leave town for the weekend she says shes not going to get it done before the deadline so I ask if anyone else in the group can take care of it as I'm out of town.

She then gets pissed and quits the group?

Whaaaat?

What am I suppose to do? She needs to do her part so others can do their part.

She volunteered. Arrgg.
