Customers that watch too much HGTV, have no idea what they are talking about and then double down on stupid.

    "What kind of tile?"
"subway tile, beige about 18"x24" "
"subway tile is while usually no bigger than 3x6"
"It's named after the tiles in a subway, have you ever been in a subway?"

Words have meanings, sometimes it is important.

I’m hoping to get a bathroom redone this summer. What are the cool kids doing?

If you're doing it to sell, then whatever was on tv last year. If you're doing it for yourself, whatever catches your eye.

As for the trends, patterned tile is big right now. Metal and metal + glass too, although that might be 'last year' at this point. There are some nice stone tiles out there right now too.

My brother and I used to have a little side business doing all things related to property, and Houzz is a good website for ideas.

My favorite is when they call columns beams, and vice versa.

Wanna be cheap? Go find the cheapest fairly cool 3x6 tile you can find at home depot/lowes. Should be less than $4/ft. Dal white 3x6 is totally fine if you want to be simple and is like $3/ft. Put it in vertically, stacked bond. If anybody asks, the MOMA bathrooms are done that way - so it's art. It looks cool and it's literally the cheapest tile you can buy.

Ok, so you really are a cool kid and wanna impress your cool kid friends? Wood tiles. Running or stacked bond. Again buy it at home depot and you can get it for $4/ft or less. Generally I have found lighter/oranger to look better in bathrooms - brighter.

Congrats. Either way you are now at least partially cool. Enjoy your new friends.

I guess that might be true, as long as you don't factor in the value of your own time...

    Mine is, personally, too valuable.

When we started we were young(ish) and under-employed, so our time wasn't worth much, and we made ok money.

Now that I'm a cog in the corporate machine, I've been valuing my own time a little higher because it's in such short supply.

So, I had the headphone jack repaired on my lgv30 last Friday. Noticed Saturday that (likely) his soldering iron burned two black spots next to the headphone jack obscuring the clock. Brought it to him today, and he was incredulous that I didn't contact him immediately( it was a holiday weekend), and tried to hem and haw that maybe it wasn't his fault. Bullshit...he may have to buy me a new phone, and he isn't happy about it. Glad I paid with American Express.
    It's a shame because I like him.

Don’t get me started on (some of) those ranchers there grazing on BLM/FS land.

When you're young if you fall hard or run into something skiing you might hurt yourself. When you're my age you can hurt yourself skiing normally--ribs two years in a row, back tweak this year. Stay young if you can.

Probably my biggest frequent irritant is when people make simple shit hard. I don't mind hard shit, I'm not afraid of a challenge. But something as simple as, oh, for example, cooking a decent simple dinner, shouldn't become an exercise in frustration because of other people's ignorance, impatience and/or apathy. Not naming names. But tonight I really began to think I was being gaslighted.
