I really can't stay (but baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go away (but baby, it's cold outside)

This evening has been (been hoping that you'd drop in)
So very nice (i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)

My mother will start to worry (beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (listen to the fireplace roar)

So really I'd better scurry (beautiful please don't hurry)
But maybe just a half a drink more (put some records on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (baby, it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? (no cabs to be had out there)

I wish I knew how (your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (i'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)

I ought to say, no, no, no sir (mind if I move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (what's the sense in hurtin' my pride?)

I really can't stay (oh baby don't hold out)
    But baby, it's cold outside

I simply must go (but baby, it's cold outside)
The answer is no (but baby, it's cold outside)

Your welcome has been(how lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (look out the window at this dawn)

My sister will be suspicious (gosh your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (waves upon the tropical shore)

My maiden aunts mind is vicious (gosh your lips are delicious)
But maybe just a cigarette more (never such a blizzard before)

I've gotta get home(but baby, you'd freeze out there)
Say lend me a coat(it's up to your knees out there)

You've really been grand (i thrill when you touch my hand)
But don't you see? (how can you do this thing to me?)

There's bound to be talk tomorrow (think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (if you got pnuemonia and died)

I really can't stay (get over that old out)
    Baby, it's cold

Read her lyrics - she's enjoying herself. She's had a nice time and would stay but she's worried about what others will think..

People are bitching about Thanksgiving now too and want to abolish it.
    Say what's in this drink?

it isn't so hard to see why people might object to the worldview behind thanksgiving and columbus day. of course, we entered the post-racial society a while back so it's unnecessary to be so hardline about everything.

I watched Rudolph last night and of course have seen the others. Years ago I was struck by some of the things Santa said in Rudolph like telling Donner he should be ashamed of Rudolph but what are you going to do. If you have kids I suppose you could use it as a teaching moment.

I will say that in Santa Claus comes to town the song young Kris Kringle sings in the town square is something to cringe at "if you sit in my lap today a kiss a toy is the price you'll pay" Talk about grooming! LOL! Ugh. Times were different back then and no one ever dreamed Santa would be a perv or bully parents for having a child that was less than perfect.

Roofies weren't invented until 1975. The song was written in 1944.

<shrug> I always associated Thanksgiving with the harvest.

I heard today that some people now consider Rudolf a perfect tool to teach racist exclusion.

Are you fucking kidding me? That song and story resonated with every kid who felt they were excluded or treated differently for any reason, and could identify with a fucking deer forchrissake.

This world annoys the fuck outta me.

    Baby, it's cold outside.

Getting a $23 Christmas gift of a hipster double wall stainless wine glass. Nice glass and a funky design on it, but if you're gonna put a lid on it with a sliding cover maybe make sure it won't leak all over the place.

    I'm looking at you #corkcicle
