The Springsteen/Jeep ad was annoying as fuck. Bruce telling me to go to Kansas to worship Jesus and find common ground with Nazi’s and Capitol-Stormers

I found it annoying that we were expected to believe that Springsteen would actually be caught dead driving a topless CJ in the dead of winter in middle of bumfuck Kansas, bare hand waving in the breeze and everything.

It’s annoying to suspend disbelief that the CJ would even start in those conditions.

Me and Buttah are on a roll here.

edit: not supposed to be a pun about Butttah on a roll. What I was trying to say is I agree with him again. And Bmills. What a stupid ad.

Also somewhat annoying that it was above freezing when it started to snow yesterday and stayed right at 33 degrees all day as it pounded snow and then went down into the low teens overnight so there's a layer of powdery snow siting on top of ice that goes right down to the ground, or car, or steps, etc.

    Shit that annoys you

Two weeks ago a buddy was telling me that he was reading an interview w/ Bruce and Bruce was saying that he’s nothing like the people he sings about. So that was fresh in my mind when I saw Bruce come up on the screen, especially after hearing about the ad in pre-Super Bowl hype.
The whole thing sucks. He’s never driving a CJ, he’s never driving around the middle of Kansas etc. etc.
Well maybe I'm the faggot America

Don't worry. The space is cheap.

Re: Bruce and every other musician who is a blue collar man of the people--many of their biographies are nothing like the people they sing about. Steve Earle is the son of an air traffic controller. U Utah Philips--the hobo, freight car riding, union troubadour was the son of a doctor. Bob Dylan's background was nothing like Woody Guthrie's, but neither was Woody Guthrie's. (Father was a businessman, landowner, Klansman.) Nothing wrong with that IMO. What matters is empathy with the folks you sing about. There are certainly plenty of exceptions--Dolly is the first that comes to mind--the coat of many colors was real, although IRL she wouldn't have to worry about Jolene.

IIRC, I read in an interview years ago that Springsteen has never had a "real" job.

Same kind of conditions here this winter. Lots of snow over ice. Picked up a pair of microspike knock-offs for the wife and I, scored major points for it. Name: MSred2015_5486RGB.jpg

A little aggressive for some urban use, but with a couple inches of snow, they penetrate and crunch into the ice in a most satisfying way. Highly recommend.

$27 on Amazon (I know, I know)! Bought these on a whim and they have been a complete life saver. The second half of December and all of January was extremely grey and dry where I live. Ski hills are closed due to the lock down, and a real shit thin nearly non existent snowpack with no new snow meant no cross country skiing, and garbage fatbike conditions.

So I've been hiking daily on the Bruce, which for weeks was just glare ice.

So happy with these things, I would have gone mad during those dreary weeks.

Sorry for the non annoying content, I'll be back soon with something more negative, I swear.

What is truly annoying is falling multiple times just getting to the few open lifts and being 70 years old. MIcro-spikes and their brethren are da shizzle

Thats the company that makes the originals. Lots of knock-offs on amazon for around half the price. Some of the lesser varieties have fewer spikes per foot, so check the descriptions if that's important to you.

I was never really a fan of either artist, but mad respect for JBJ and his Soul Kitchen.
