There are no separate CPSC standards for kids bikes, or at least that is what I was told by the former head of Hayes bike division who led development of their JUNIT components. So, everything has to be strong enough to meet adult CPSC bike standards which makes the strong part of the light/strong/cheap, pick two-problem non-negotiable. Lots of companies make light kids bikes now, but they are not cheap. Resale is great though, or it least it was when my kid was riding 16 inch to 24 inch wheel bikes, so you can think of it more like a long-term rental with a refundable 50-75% deposit.

Yeah, she annoys the hell out of me.

And to be clear, it has nothing to do with her being a woman. I love listening to Kayte Christensen during Kings games and miss her every time they are on a national broadcast.

Doris is right up there with Suzyn Waldman.

edit: Well a couple of steps lower than Suzyn, now that I think about it

Google maps gave me bad directions twice wednesday. It had an address on the wrong side of a big divided highway, then drove me around the wrong neighborhood, I finally blundered on the place by accident. Later it got me off the freeway 5 miles and 2 exits too soon and drove me around through the boonies. These were very straightforward trips, nothing unusual or exotic. I gotta think they're using AI now.

    Shit that annoys you

The vet office denied the flea med refill for our two and a half year old mutt because a she’s due for her annual check up. Like seriously? talk about a money grab and pointless trip. Can’t I just send a chk for the visit if you’re that tight and see you when she actually has a problem?

it seems like both vets and regular docs have figured out that money grab, &quot;we will not renew your medication unless you pay us more money&quot;.</p>

It has been doing stuff like this to me for a long time. I always check the route over before I leave. Often it will offer alternate routes which might be something like turn left ahead, take a different parallel side street for a bit and then get back on the street I&#39;m on now. There aren&#39;t any slowdowns. It is just giving me the option to take a different street for a bit if I want. &quot;Similar ETA&quot;. It does this when I&#39;m on the highway too.

Try and find out if your vets office is independent or part of a big PE owned network. Vets are one of the biggest targets of PE because owners love their pets and there are no regs on what fuckery PE firms can get up to in terms of pricing or policies. This is the sort of thing they love to do.

He’s not part of PE luckily. He is close to retiring and a very old school vet. He’s actually pretty good about keeping costs down so this really surprised me. I’m sure he doesn’t give af and it’s one of his office staff that decided we needed to come in. Surprisingly, my other dog is over due for booster shots and they didn’t say anything about him coming in but he doesn’t have any prescriptions so i guess he didn’t trigger the cash register gate keeping

You are correct about PE in general though. Guillotines for all that bs as far as I’m concerned

I have yet to find a way to order prescription flea meds - in this case - nextgard - without one or I most definitely would do so. There’s probably a way but when initially getting the doggo drugs, I got tired of the bait switch rabbit holes

Oh nuts! I didn't realize this was such a big thing, but you're right! The service at the vet we had been taken our poodle to has really taken a nosedive and their cash grabs more and more egregious! So bad we fired them on our last encounter.

So, I just looked it up and sure enough. They evidently got bought out by "Destination Pet" which got taken over by L1 Health, a PE firm. Faaaak.

First, they tried making us do some stupid annual subscription thing for vet care (like over a grand a year), and last time all we wanted was a groom for our new puppy we got this year. She was really young but it's good to get them used to groomings as early as possible. They then informed us that they have a new policy that they require a "personality test" for their groomer's safety for $75, as well as a check-up from THEIR vet for another fee (she already got a recent checkup). I guess the thought of our 8 week old poodle pup was just too much for them to handle. We were existing clients and asked if they'd waive it. Especially since the breeder already got the personality assessment done. And she was/is just the sweeeeeeetest little ball of fluff. Obvious cash grab is obvious.

Now we own a full complement of grooming supplies and just learned to do it ourselves. Dicks lost a lot of long-term revenue from us over that one. Just our one dog ws like $140 + tip every month. Welp, guess we needed to save the money anyway. lol

Poodle grooming is the next growth industry and safe from ai ! You can save a shit ton of moola if you can trim them diy. My small guys hair cost [emoji640]x my barber and [emoji639]x as often. It’s bonkers how much more I pay his groomer thsn my barber. On the plus side of the cost, no shedding. Which our border collie mut compensates for with massive balls of fur left everywhere

Yeah, my vet got bought out that way; he just disappeared from the website with no notice to clients. Don't blame him for cashing in like that, but I was already driving a ways just to keep going to him, and have no allegiance to the clinic name, so switched to a small place that is more local.

More than annoying, one thing I f'n hate is Carpenter Bees. Are they everywhere? I hate those fuckers. I lived in a wood house in the woods for years and they tried to eat it. First nice day of spring, there they are, hovering, the bastards.

Speaking of jizz trees, I do not miss Marylands Bradford Pear season, where the air smells of fresh semen.
