Probably works fine for that. I want a full wheelset and I’d rather not create one more chore during the week. Get them to my garage so I can swap ‘em out at halftime during the Lions game, please. I’ll settle for swinging by and picking them up on the way home from work, though that’s a PITA too.

This last time the local guy called and told me he had really bad news, and the rims I ordered aren’t in stock. I told him I’m not ready to browse the website with him right then, I’ll just find something else online. But the website shows those wheels as being available in quantity and ready for quick delivery, and apparently the only way to parse this is to call the local guy at the shop. In the meantime my order is still placed, just in limbo, with no way to access or edit it.

Edit: went to tirerack and that worked fine, I think. Fiddled with a few other sites and they blasted me with add-ons and bullshit before completion. Annoyed with DT and that I still ended up buying from them. Still no clue how to cancel my initial order, so I have to call them tomorrow.

Also, the tire/rim rabbit hole is a deeeep fuckin hole.

My wife traded in her iphone for the 16. It was an even trade but to get it came with all sorts of add on shit that we had to go home and cancel. Bonus tip for you all, sales rep told me to sign up for AARP and it would save me money with ATT. I paid $12 to join AARP for the year and it took $20 off my phone bill/per month. I haven't looked into what AARP offers but this savings was well worth the cost to join. Between that and cancelling all the add on bullshit I knocked $45 off my monthly bill.

When a big brand, cough, Oakley, cough, discontinues the best storm lens on the market, only to replace it with an insta friendly, lower VLT version. Stupid fucks.

Edit: Need to drop over to the ‘Things that amuse you’ thread next as I just grabbed my fav lens on close out.

I sent a Mtn Hardwear tent in for warranty work; not knowing if they would repair it or send me a credit for a new one, I sent the whole tent back, tent, fly, and poles. They repaired it (yay!) and returned it to me, but with a janky shitty set of poles that clearly didn’t go with the tent, and were probably ten years older. I called to ask where my poles were, and they said that these were the ones I sent them.

So now I have a fully functional, fixed tent, that I really like, with unusable poles. Because of the weird pole configuration, no third-party pole folks can make them for me. So my tent is trash.

MH really shit the bed when Columbia acquired them. Annoying.

Yep, I had a MH tent that lasted twenty years and then a couple that lasted about two.

And generally the overpromise repair or replace offers when you go backwards.

"Yeah, we can't fix those pants, they are old, here is a $5 credit" "Yeah, I told you they were old, you begged to have me send them in because you are Patagonia, and now I have no pants"

"It like some spastic doodle ran right through the front of that tent, we can fix it" "Weird, I sent you picture and you said you can fix it, where is my tent" "blah, blah, no tent"

I got no problem fixing shit myself and and no asking for anything. You volunteered to fix it with your earth first repair policies but you unilaterally threw my shit in the trash.

Columbia’s general philosophies around customer service are shitty. What irritates me most is they act like there’s just no other way they could do it, like they couldn’t possibly choose to not be shitty.

Gym culture generally. I'm lucky that we only have a community rec center so you get grandma and toddlers swimming, pre teen gymnastics, old people throwing iron, serious competetive skiers and so on to balance out chicks in outfits taking pictures of their asses in the mirror and meatheads trying to get laid.

Oh, and I think Columbia is good value product. Specifically, their sun hoodies, button up sunshirts and long underwear (base layers as the cool kids say) work well for me.

I like their shoes, too. But their attitudes around the few issues I’ve had have turned me away. Lots of good brands making good shit at a good value.

I'm pretty excited for the return to receiving a couple texts a day from Nigerian scammers, rather than 30 texts a day from Sam with United Freedom Action Partnership.

I’d much rather talk to some Indian dude trying to sell me final expense services than somebody from Grand Rapids who wants to gauge voter sentiment or whatever.

Does anyone physically read it when you text back STOP. I've taken to adding "go fuck yourself" and other similar messages when I reply to ads asking for money for Kamala and if I don't send money it's my personal fault if she loses. I would hate to think that only a bot sees my invective because bots can't feel. Yet.

This. Don't EVER respond to one. That just guarantees your number getting on more fkn spam lists.

This is really interesting - I basically receive NO unsolicited calls/txts for political nonsense.

Don’t ever reply STOP or otherwise. Guy on the local news here said all you’re doing is confirming to the spammer that your number is “live” and that helps them sell it to other marketers and spammers.

Same. I get a metric fuck ton of email but because I don't give out my phone number to candidates, parties, etc, they don't call it. VT is also very much not considered a swing state.

Yeah, I'm in Montana, so definitely not a swing state. We do have a heated Senate battle though, so plenty of kerfuffle about that. I've also received a surprising number of texts about random down ballot elections - mostly for/against various judges.

But yeah, I can only imagine the swing states.

Interesting... I don't get any political email either.

But I don't check my Gmail "Spam" folder either.

I counted last night at dinner with my wife, between us we received 55 political text messages yesterday and 4 robocalls. We block each sending number but it just doesn’t stop. Extra fun is the fact our phone numbers are from a different state so we get all those political issue callers too. You should see the amount of print mail we get on a daily basis too.

“Oh, see here, now THIS is the piece of [red/blue] junk mail that has convinced me to change my vote. Don’t know what I would have done before this hit my mailbox”

    Fuck these people.

Silence Unknown Callers is possibly the best phone feature ever.
