I'm not saying it's unusual now, but it seems to be something that has gained in popularity. Apparently some people have used it that way for much longer, but I've only started hearing it recently.

I prefer crabby. Yeah, old school, but obviously a progenitor of salty.

And ads every other post. I rarely go on there these days. I mainly look to see the sunset posts my mom makes from Arizona and pop off. It’s a wasteland.

The new usage of salty by the young'ns refers to the salty tears that you produce when you cry about said youngn's using words you think are reserved for pirates of the 1700's.

"I'm going to visit the salt mines" is referencing trolling a group of individuals on the internet so they get mad and cry, thus producing said salt in their tears.

Same with IG. It’s just a stream of ads and “suggested content”.

Re salty: longstanding use to refer to crusty sailor types like Quint. More recently-

My ISP wants to charge 15/m for "premium" tech support. This for internet that has been out multiple times the last few days, probably because it can't handle the holdiay crowds in the Truckee area.

It also annoys me to have to find this thread on page 2. Should be a sticky.

Been there. I started noticing connectivity issues during covid. Lots of people (me included) now working from home, and everything being done via zoom calls. It wasn't an issue for general web surfing but you really noticed it on live calls. Call the internet company to complain and they could send a technician out to look at it. But if they found anything that was a problem with your equipment (and it's always your equipment) or if they found no issue, it was going to be a $150 service call. But if you upgrade to the next subscription level for $20 more/mo then all service calls would be included. I did the upgrade just so I could call and complain at will.

    You're getting saltier.

Well, they do tend to be completely unaware that it's a three way, even with proper signage.
They are rather unusual, and often of questionable value.

If you bookmark this link and click "latest posts" it should be on the first page. Maybe a little scrolling, but not too bad.

The HVAC racket. We've all been through it, and it's REALLY annoying when you're actually handy with repairs and know WTF is up. Sometimes we just need a simple repair or annual service, sometimes we just need a simple part to DIY, sometimes we want a whole new system. Doesn't matter. You're gonna get bent over no matter what.

The whole ticket/hotel package experience for the Sphere dead shows has been expensive, frustrating, and a little bait-and-switchy.
One of the main selling points of staying at the Venetian was that you could walk in air conditioned splendor to the show. Well, fuck no, that way is closed for construction. And other gripes.

Go on about the small business racket. Around here the whole "the service economy is so expensive" thing is over. The "smart people" with the clean hands bitching about the $200 15 minute service call from the garage door guy.

Either figure it out yourself, pay or don't.

Exactly. Service economy requires labor. Labor costs more now. You think the business owner should take a hit because he has to pay his employees and himself enough to live so you can save a buck on your hvac repair? Nah bud. Either DIY or break out the wallet.

But hey, since this is the safe space for the annoyed, I'll play.

The fairly nasty follow up email battle I'm in right now regarding my Town of Fraser business licence. Yeah, I didn't respond because within the next 12 months I have no business on the books in town limits. If I do, I'll pay the fee. And don't push to hard because I'm the guy that asked the Town of Winter Park for the contractor registration and business licence information for all the out of town companies working on their tax payer funded projects. They changed their tone one I emailed the town manager photos of all the work van on their projects and asked if I could get on the agenda at the town meeting.

Bask in the glory that is you mid grade well paid low accountability civil service job. History proves it doesn't end well if you keep up the keyboard warrior respect my authority schtick.

Oh and FU with your pricy windshields, ND. Because no, I can't figure how to do it myself.

It isn’t just the labor. Have a look at a refrigeration mechanic’s tool kit sometime. No way anyone has all that on hand. Gauges, etc.
