    The most awesome thing.

Let me start by saying that if I had been video taping this event - I would already be a youtube millionaire. I was not video taping though, so I'm left with my only real recourse - words and MS Paint.

Let me also state that I am regularly the guy winging off of traverses, into trees, one footing it off logs and am GENERALLY no stranger to making an ass of myself. But this was something special.

A beautiful sunny day at the base of A-Basin, the crowds are out in force, including this dude... our hero. He's rocking a headband, a jacket that would have been most likely considered a native indian style hunting jacket, jeans and an intro package rental ski setup. Pretty typical actually.

As I'm standing next to my 7 year old I have my full attention diverted as I see him pull every park kids favorite LOOK AT ME move, clearly over estimating the DIN setting on his rentals where he rests for all of about 2 seconds.

I can only describe the sound as GUN SHOT - like in it's rapid fire 1, 2 cadence and the loudness as both skis simultaneously eject him.

Like a bow that has been pulled tight and then released - the skis literally fly off his feet leaving him suspended like Wile E. Coyote with his hands seemingly unable to let go of his poles.

To say that time dilated would be an understatement. I think everybody watching became so mentally focused that we actually warped space time and slowed the following 1/2 second into something like 4 seconds. Each second, his face took more of a prominent role in the landing position of his body. It was magnificent.

In the last split second, time sped up again and his entire body collapsed - his hands never even coming close to aiding in breaking the fall.

I think I felt the same thing that bystanders in Dealey Plaza might have felt after seeing JFK shot in front of them - a mixture of shock and awe. Something so horrible and yet unable to look away.

"SWEET JESUS, DID YOU SEE THAT!?" I demanded of my son.

    "Yeah, what was he DOING?"

    ...

    "That my boy was magic."

If you went and bought a go pro right now you'd never again see anything that spectacular. And, we'd never have the chance to enjoy you're artistic talents again.

Was he smoking a spliff or a Marlboro?

So was it a failed backscratcher, or was he doing the classic ski ballet move? The pic makes it look like he was in the air, since the ground reappears on landing.

    Either way, just awesome.

Yeah, he got up and dusted his head band off. He didn't try it again.

That was great. You should have put "TR" in your thread title because I think it was worthy.

At a minimum a Caldacott award. Maybe get a guest animation gig with Seth McFarland. Too funny.
