    Only 2 1/2 months gentlemen. In the meantime here's a recipe for summer survival in the Bulkley Valley;

    Step 1 - Attitude adjustment
Step 2 - Hop on your bike and head to Telkwa via Tatlow Road
    Step 3 - Shotgun a beer
Step 4 - Make like a Telkwa teenager and huck the bridge
Step 4 - Hop back on your bike and return home

August turns up on Wesach the other day. Twas fun serging the temp warmed sun cups and rocks down the lower half of the Nass Range classic, "Gulleloch Couloir". First summer in four years that the zone has held a closer to 'normal' amount of snow for this time of year....a bit less than long term average but at least there are still skiable lines. Sept turns on the schedule for next week if we get the forcasted sunny window. Looking forward to pow season in October!

^^^ Looks like you have better things to do than jump off bridges with drunken teenagers (unlike me). Well done.

Tagged some sept. turns yesterday back up at Wesach. Had to forgo another bigger line ski due to a rolled ankle...it was a grunt getting to the 12 turn patch but worth it. First T.A.Y. season since 2014 due to the previous summers' early thermonuclear meltdown of snowpack. Felt good to feel some 'normal' again this summer. Only a month to go till pow season, stoked!

Report from the field from Zeeripper. Up to 20cms of recent new snow was laid down with no wind affect in the north aspect alpine in the mid nass range north of Terrace. New snow depth decreased rapidly below 5500 feet to about 5cms on the lowest snow patches at 4500 feet. Apparently the ski quality was good in the higher elevation snow that was resting on glacier ice and old snow...to link the full run of 1500 feet, four ski/hike transitions were performed. No reports of rock damage on skis or resulting injuries from potential tomahawks, but I would suspect that the conditions were favorable for frequent ski/shark encounters.

Early start to the season around here. The highs and lows of early season skiing were very high and very low!

Frank has had a snowmobile out and figures today he was at the limit of using the Side by Side

and there is more snow on the way

which could thro a bit of a wrench in the cutting program at least up high

when you walk out of the liquor store look up, a way way up

Ptarmaglades starts to show up from that angle with the white snow on it

Sounds like upper Shames could be skiable real soon. Snowline now at tower 3 w/ perhaps a foot at bottom T.

Took the dog up for a lap and "Skied"

It was as you would expect 25-30cm so "about a foot, foot is all you need"

Stuck to the grass so no stone shark attacks.

A bit of crust forming - so hopefully this doesn't turn into one of those persistent layers.
All in all - good to get out.

(Man I hate this photo editor - please just tilt yer head to properly enjoy these photos)

Nice. I'm headed up there pretty quick (Nov 3 or so) let's go for a little ski Guido. I'd love to hit up Shames.

Nice work Mr Hutz! Loved the doggie photo too.

Thanks for the pics, Mr. Hutz, great stoke builder!

Up to the minute report based on Matt's obs heading up to the NEW Anderson ridge cabin...40cms of snow at 900 meters, 80cms at 1200 meters. Based on those numbers I would speculate that the alpine numbers would be in the neighborhood of 120-150cms...wesach a bit less, maybe 80cms nearing the 5500 foot mark.

Looks absolutely gorgeous up at the NEW Anderson cabin!

And Gary, yeah for sure, let's do a shred day and a Trippple G movie night if/then/or...doesn't have to be the Andrew Dice Clay standup routine, doesn't have to be that!
