    you like that eh?

7 sisters was also completed, we still had time and energy before the snow shut things down so we cut those 2 new runs

I skied that middle run today for the 1st time since cutting it ... damn good!

Ironicaly all that cutting was done by OLD backcountry skiers

Forget the OLD part dude. Although insanely physical, falling requires serious skill. Those new openings to the lookers right of Reality Check required the falling of some huge, nasty balsam so IMO the old and experience quotient was almost a necessity in making those clearings. Young ramrods with chainsaws would have just gotten their heads taken off. And those clearings as well as the 7 Sisters Glades (awful name BTW) have really spread people out. The deep O-Zone lines have been untouched every time i've gone out there. Loads of new skiing at HBM. Super cool. Now if only we could get a bit more snow.

Yeah I think we had 3 or 4 guys who had done falling but at least 2 of the crew are collecting Old age security and a couple young fellas in their 50's but there was no fat on them lads ... lean BC skiers eh?

We are deeply offended by your decision to ski bottomless pow instead of paying us a visit Gary.

Thanks for the tour, Gary! Such a great way to close out our time at Shames. That was our 10th straight day as well.. We left and went to visit family in Kitimat and actually skied a day down there in the Mt Clague area. Not bad! Can't wait to come back to the north coast!

A few photos from the Christmas-New Years stretch. We spent a handful of days skiing at Shames and another few to the east at the Anderson cabin. That Christmas surface hoar problem was pretty intense. Never been on a trip where you're triggering multiple slab avalanches every single day. It felt like we were constantly retreating, just getting beaten down and pushed around..but that's how it goes. Safety first and all that.. Managed to piece together some decent skiing in the trees but it was definitely a strip club kind of situation with the bigger lines - look no touch...!

    Nice Solesides!

We made the trip out west and had a nice chill day at shames, looking at the crown fractures on Geronimo kept things reigned in... so did a late start... Dome thru Fazers was fun! Drove through the reset storm on xmass day for the ferry... now to shake the skiing apathy and find some pow. Looks like 20-40 in the PG East line and fucking cold and dry for powderking.

Very nice indeed! Thanks for posting Solesides. Glad you could spend some time at Anderson. Great that you also got to sample the goods Moose Pit!

The one thing that impressed me about skiing in the Yukon and northern BC. When ever you met a Yukon crew there were usually more women than men. nice shots looks like finally winter again.

It's true. Dudes were outnumbered on this trip and that's often the case.. PSA to AK men: There are a lot of active and attractive women in the Yukon, and a lot of them are single.

Its actualy quite common for the women up here to complain that there are no men

OK, a little un-current as it was now weekend before last, however I understand Shames is skiing very well these days so it's still fairly representative.

I hear that skiing between PG and Mcbride has been good and skiing around Wells above treeline was great last week. Looking like a couple good storms rolling through this week, should make for a good weekend!

Actualy flying into Terrace is often way cheaper than flying into Smithers but yeah the high cost of air travel helps to keep the riffraff out ...and in !

yeah they got snow coming but its gona pretty warm in Terrace the weather up narth has been warmer than average the last 3 years so what falls as bottomless pow is upside down pretty quick ... you gotta have good timing!
