Things were very good up there yesterday. Bit of a dice shake when the temp is supposed to be hovering between -2 and +2 but we were happy to find it on the minus side of things for our afternoon up there. I was on the snowboard and it was perfect, the extra flotation made even the heavy crud ride well. The missus did well to survive the bottom third of the bump runs with a smile on her face as opposed to face planting, it would have been tougher on skis for sure.
The top of the double blacks were in great shape though, just a little chillier up high.
The missus at the top of Juniors.
Forecast is funky to say the least. Over 40cms (at mid) over the next 2 days with temp swings between -3 and +5 over the next 6 days. Will it be good? Maybe. Over 70cms forecast for the alpine in the next 48hrs with similar temps as noted. Freezing level spiking to 2200m on Saturday. Man, there's going to be a cycle out there.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

My youngest participated in the Ski the North Festival at Purden Ski Village outside of PG this weekend. My first time there. Always fun to ski a new hill. Fun event. Great work by the PG organizers and the Smithers Ski Club folks. My daughter had a blast. My older daughter chose to not participate so I alternated between touring the hill with her and doing laps with the racers.
LHutz Esq was one of my daughter's coaches for the weekend and not only did he do a great job but it appeared as though he was having as much fun as the kids. Thx and respect. to him and all the volunteers.

Northern BC 2013/2014 Stoke, Conditions
Thanks AP. Getting to rip with your little one was great!
Man it was a fun weekend. I am unabashedly passionate about sliding on snow! Those similarly crazy about combining frozen water with gravity are my people. Just so happens many of my people happen to be under 4ft tall.
Let’s Just go fast and jump off of something
32 little rippers and their fams drove 5 hours each way from Smithers. 108 U12 chargers total mostly PG, Quesnel, Powderking and Smithers.
Parking lot tailgating, cowbells, snowball fights!Racing is back in the North!

Damn boys, that is some sweet ass northern bc kid stoke right there. Thanks for flaming the desires and driving the miles you guys. Hats off to Hutz for the grom coachinz!!! Our sport's future is in good (though morally suspect) hands!!
So had a very lovely day touring with the missus and one of my best buddies Polly a couple of days ago. Conditions have been primo lately with a little recharge coming at just the right time. All the following shots were on a run down North Bowl.

Big news yesterday though (photos to come will prove it). Maggot visit - yes, that's right. Yet another mag has made the pilgrimage. cousin Nicky was in the house with his buddy Nick just to make it easy to remember names. will post up evidence of this happy event when I get a chance.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Cheap lift tickets for locals brought out the knee droppers and high vis jacket crowd. At least the high vis dudes appeared to be having fun. Nonetheless, it was almost too much to bear so a retreat to the the cliff area in the Ozone was warranted. Fresh snow and the return of winter helped.
Oh yeah, the chair broke down. I feel for Lexi and Blake (HBM management) who do their very best and are surely having to deal with disgruntled and entitled jerks.

Thanks Norse!
Yeah, was a good day mate. It's nice to be skiing it consistently these days (skied it yesterday with a buddy and also last weekend with cousin nicky and lurker philly-nick.
Primo conditions mate! Nice. I feel for your managers man, it cannot have been easy this season with the breakdowns, jesus it's hard enough to make a buck in this industry.
So I have promised evidence of more maggots coming to town and here you go. The invasion of cousin nicky from Seattle and lurker Philly-nick from Philly.

I skied with Cousin nicky at crystal (he doesn't remember, but I have photo evidence which I will present at a later date), and at the first BBI at Alpental. Good guy. I'm glad that they enjoyed themselves here and am absolutely grateful as fuck that Cousin nicky felt it in his heart to buy a share of our mountain. Pretty damn cool that a mag comes a thousand miles, buys a bunch of lift tickets, beers and retail goods, then drops $300cdn to help keep our dream alive. Thanks buddy! Gary, I look forward to seeing that Crystal Mountain photographic evidence in person soon. Thanks again for the Beta, hospitality and now the great pics. You guys have a truly special community and mountain up there.

Gary only travels south of the border to find the one think lacking up north: moguls! We hammered the bumps under REX together that day

Hearing all the laments on various threads about lack of snow makes me grateful for our average winter in Northern BC.

I thot it was just a cold but some things felt a little wierd cuz normaly I would show up a bit hungover & not have pulled the plug on a DH camp, but i was a bit spacey, aching all over, so I did a consult with the L man and got the positive Covid test.
it pretty much feels like a low level cold with a minor headache which is taken care of with some IBU, some coughing but i have had not-covid that was WAY worse , no breathing issues, so I am just gona isolate & cook off some of the food here in man-cave
the L man has also been checking on me cuz its hard to take the MD out of the skier
not really sure where I might have picked the covid up ?
but enough about my problems, your poor daughter does not have a chance of being normalLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
