    the latest email from andesweb.........

    Dear Andes Snow Enthusiast,

After several fall snowstorms, El Colorado opened on Friday, May 20.
    For
opening weekend, the resort had the double treat of light powder and
bluebird skies. Termas de Chillan also opened for the season during the
weekend. Check out the weekend photos of El Colorado and Valle Nevado
(planning to open on June 10). Forecasts call for more heavy snow this
week. Other South American resorts should offer great conditions on
    their
announced June openings. Snowfall has been particularly heavy in
    southern
regions. Termas de Chillan already reports a 2 meter base. Cerro
    Catedral
in Bariloche is reporting some of its deepest May snowfalls in years.

    Newbie looking for partner

    Hello,

Sorry if you have read this post on other lists but i just found this one which seems to be the real deal. Anyway, I am looking for someone to ski with in South America this season. I have never been there before and know only basic basic spanish so this is why I am trying to find a partner. I am a decent skier and have backcountry skied two or three times. If you are intersted please get in touch with me!

To the more experienced skiers on this list, do you think Las Lenas is the right place for me. I’m starting to think my eyes might be bigger than my stomach. Can a upper level intermediate skier have a good time there? I would love to get in touch with an experienced SA skier who could give me some advice. Thanks a ton!

Dr. Jabberwocky/Pete- sorry, we don't have space in the condo, but would be more than happy to provide some hospitality in early September if you make it down to LL. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you got any ???. I dropped in solo my first trip to SA and was one of the best trips I've ever made.

the latest email from andesweb ..................

The second weekend of June has brought a major snowstorm to South
    American
resorts. This means great opening weekend conditions La Parva, Valle
Nevado, and Corralco. These openings are in addition to El Colorado,
Termas de Chillan and Chapelco, which opened in May. Most other resorts
will start turning lifts later this month with excellent snow
    conditions.
You can check out opening weekend photos of El Colorado at
http://www.andesweb.com. Also available are pre-seson pictures of Valle
Nevado and Portillo. Snowfall has been particularly heavy in southern
regions. Termas de Chillan already reports a 2 meter base. Cerro
    Catedral
in Bariloche is reporting some of its deepest May snowfalls in years.

sounds like the SA resorts could be starting a winter that might be the best in their history...i've never recieved so many emails so often from andesweb

    Dear Andes Snow Enthusiast,

May and June have been very good to South American Resorts. Last
    weekend's
storms dropped up to a meter plus at most resorts, and it's still
    snowing
again! Most resorts are now open. Check out new AndesWeb photos from
    Valle
Nevado - on a snowy mid-June Friday at Valle Nevado:

    http://www.andesweb.com/skichile/valle/050617Photos.htm

You can also look at opening weekend photos of El Colorado, or
    pre-season
pictures of Valle Nevado and Portillo. All are available on the main
AndesWeb site. All the snow is making for mid-season base depths while
    it´s still autumn.
