in this case it does not end in .jpg but just a "attacmentid=5335...etc".

Btw, nice lines in the background in the last one.
I guess its no need to guess what tracks are made by skiers and wich one by a boarder.
    Right?

So is there gonna be a SA summit or not?

My gf and I arrive in Buenos Aires on Aug 15 and leave Santiago Sept 3. Our plan is to head down to Bariloche and work our way north to Las Lenas, We'd be happy to hook up with some maggots for some turns. Or for some beer. We're hoping to do some bc touring as well as hitting the lifts.

Quick question - it looks like most of the Las Lenas accomodation packages are for 7 days. We're not planning on staying in one place for too long since we don't have a lot of time and we want to cover as much ground as possible - is it possible to find a place in LL to crash for only 2 or 3 days?

up an down - your Las Lenas contact sounds promising. Thanks for posting that.

Sorry- Las Lenas only does Sat-Sat bookings. That is the entire valley. Their is a new hostel in Las Lenas that might be different (or Los Molles down the road). The name is something like Cilex, I think.

I'm still planning on going, but now looks like more of a mid august to late august time frame. Work is screwing with my plans so I won't have it firmed up until early June.

You might try heading to Las Lenas first, down to Bariloche, then up the Chilean side. There´s not much between Barilo and Las Lenas (San Martin de Los Andes being the only place of note), and no major border crossings. You´ll be spending alot of time on the road. Enjoy.

Merlyn - CHANGE YOUR DATES! The Santa Rosa storms come during or after the first week of September.
I've gotten powder-skunked the last two years in a row by leaving on the 8th.

    Thanks Meathelmet.

Yeah, the straight line and the big carve are the snowboarders' lines (we met a Chilean riding on his own when we got over there).

Looking for touring, traveling, ski partners in crime

So it is looking highly likely that I will have the last couple weeks of August to play and plan to return to Argentina / Chile. I would be seriously stoked to meet up with people for any or all parts of the trip. Anyone heading down that time that wouldn't mind another let me know! Very psyched as its been >10 years since I was last down there!

Splat, figures. last year I could do September and you guys went in August, now you are pushing September. I gots to return to "real life" and my new job in September...

I think a little SA pow-wow in Mammoth this week would be a good idea I'll bring the "magic book" as Arty calls it. And yes- looks like it could be August for me this year- plans changing with work I'll know more by the end of May.

Pat - Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, between my work schedule, my gf's work schedule, family weddings, etc., etc., Aug 14 to Sept 3 is the only time that works for us. Maybe the Santa Rosa storms will come early ...

    HEY YOU SA FOOS!

I need you to keep an eye out for my friend Kim from Jackson. She's headed to Mendoza this Wed, then has vague plans to get to LL for starters. Very capable world traveler, but first timer in Argentina. Looking for good peeps to hang with.

Oh yeah, bonus round: she's very cool, quite hot, and she rips. Rides Pistols.

Keep an eye out, introduce yourself if ya spot her, and try not to scare her away!

Is this the friend that we bumped into during the summit. One of your friends came up to us and asked if we were maggots and if we were going over there, pointing to Cody. She was supposed to find a bill and ???

If so, she was very cool girl.

Nope, different friend. That was katie, aka Travlenpup; she hung with Basom and Arty and others for a day or two, I think. This one is Kim. Doesn't really know about the interweb thing, probably doesn't want to. More of an in-person, in-real-life, in-the-moment type than us weirdos.

    And yeah, Katie rocks.

Storms are lined up for Chile/ARG right now.
20 cm's today plus another 25-40cm's on the way by Tuesday...
Most of this from mid-mtn up, but it's a good start!

Thought this might be of interest to some:
    http://www.skipressworld.com/us/en/d...?cat=Adventure

Las Lenas, Argentina (Ski Press)-For the past 3 years, Extremely Canadian clients have migrated south to Las Lenas, Argentina for their guided, all-inclusive World Tour ski trips, and without fail, Mother Nature has been very, very good to them.

Each year the fabled Santa Rosa storm rolls in as their plane hits the runway, blessing the resort with deep freshies on incredible terrain. Whether Extremely Canadian sold their soul to the devil or just knows how to find good skiing, the important thing is they’re returning again this year, and you’re invited.

As part of their 2005 World Tour, Extremely Canadian will return to this Mecca of the Andes in August/September, and by popular demand they will offer your choice for 3 epic trips: August 27 – Sep 3, Sep 3-10, and Sep 10-17, 2005.

Whether Mother Nature treats them or not, those who’ve been to Las Lenas know the incredibly vast terrain and enriching cultural adventure are an opportunity of a lifetime… until you get hooked and go again. “We just can’t get enough of the place” explained Joe Lammers, head guide for Extremely Canadian’s trip, adding “I’ve been lured back for 7 years now, and guiding these trips has been an incredible experience. I see a lot of stoked skiers come and go… then come again for more”.

Las Lenas, a cosy village in a snowy corner of Argentina, houses several hotels, diverse restaurants, bars, a casino, a shopping centre and a complete infrastructure to serve its multinational clientele. It claims more lift-serviced skiable terrain than any other ski area in the Western Hemisphere with endless chutes, steeps and couloirs that are surrounded by the magnificent scenery of the Argentine Andes.

The Extremely Canadian World Tour trips to Las Lenas includes:
 Return domestic flight from Buenos Aires to Malargue
 Return shuttle bus from Malargue to Las Lenas
 Seven nights shared lodging at the four star Escorpio Hotel
 Breakfast and dinner while at the Escorpio Hotel
 Six days resort skiing, Extremely Canadian guiding and coaching
     Eight day lift pass

    Trip Prices/Dates:
    Week 1 or 2: Aug 27 – Sep 3, 2005 or Sep 3-10, 2005. $3495 CAD
    Week 3: Sep 10-17, 2005. $3295 CAD
Special rate available for multiple week trips.

    LL

All I know is LL is going to go off this year as there is a ton of snow there now and more on the way the next 3 days in the forecast, another 40 cms!
Check out the photo of the Escorpio hotel by the base.

I saw some q's about non 7 day stays and it can be easily done but not so easily or even at all in resort during high season periods like July 9-30. Los Molles is a great short term budget place and there is info on www.laslenasski.com in the apartment section.
