They called him "The Humbler" for a reason.

Steve Vai had this to say about the one-time mystery man from Washington DC: “Danny Gatton was a players’ guitar player, hailed by both Rolling Stone and Guitar Player as the greatest unknown guitarist anywhere. His legend has only grown since his untimely suicide in 1994, along with appreciation for his blinding speed, effortless genre-hopping, flawless technique, and never-ending appetite for tinkering and problem-solving. Danny Gatton comes closer than anyone else to being the best guitar player that ever lived.”

    Give it a minute:

Hanging with the Kid tonight in front of the fire… They had never heard of Jane’s Addiction. Great album front to back… pick any song. Hoping this gets passed around the High School tomorrow

Awesome job turning the youths on to good music. I remember spring of 89 my roommate bought that album right as the semester was ending. I taped it and tossed it into the car stereo for the ride home for the summer. That tape didn’t come out of the stereo all summer. Listen to that album every day. So good.

Watching 60 Minutes Sunday featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers made me recall John Frusciante doing a (seemingly on the spot) live cover of "For Emily, wherever I may find her".

Been having "Monoral" by Japanese band, Kiri, totally stuck in my head for like a week now. Total earworm from the mid '00s that's totally reminiscent of that era. It's the track from the opening segment to badass anime, Ergo Proxy. GEEZ that was a good show. Funny how a song can pop back into your head and get stuck there decades later.
