Yep... but it's also pretty entertaining. I'm guilty.

Most PBers are park riders and many are ex DH racers, so yea, brain damage is common.

I don't check MTBR often, it looks like they have some new forums that are pre-populated with tons of posts. Did someone go through the old/existing posts and reclassify all of them? I bet that was a fun project.

I assumed it was dead. Last few times I wandered over there it was the doldrums. Haven't looked in months.

Plenty of activity but minimal useful or interesting discussion. But that's not new.

People still use the web interface? Is this 1994? How's your Packard Bell holding up?

So now when you go to the main website you get a "recommended for you" threads. I'm not seeing many debates, just a set of threads that give me a headache with all the face palms.

Case in point this thread where OP wants to lighten his bike but gives zero details on what the bike is or what sort of riding he does. But he did disassemble it and lists the weight of each part to the gram. Super useful info! https://www.mtbr.com/threads/help-me...-bike.1176451/

Oh hell yes. Love that shit. Soon someone will get really offended. Then it’ll get really good.

For those keeping score: I’m 3 rides in on a Molten Speed wax treatment on a new chain. I did soak and clean in the solvent tank before wax application.
It’s quite dry here and so far my chain has been silent and feels great. The bike did get a little spritz of water and a really quick wash after the second ride.

Are you using a hard cheese like Parmesan? Or something soft like a Mozzarella?

I saw a similar thread there last week that I forgot to link here. The OP was having trouble with a crunchy drivetrain and he was adamant it is the finish on whatever 12 speed cassette he was using. Not the type of lube, as some responses suggested. That would be an excellent thread to go troll.

Comments can be entertaining in a trainwreck kind of way. What I found worse was the forums, which i quickly closed the browser window after seeing someone ask if they can just put 29" tires on a 27.5+" wheelset....

I thought that was about edge filing at first. Very confusing.
    No longer stuck.

I mean, in some ways I’d prefer the “dumb” questions from people who just don’t know a lot to the endless debates about half a degree of STA and quarter inches of BB clearance.

What you say is "stupid" I say is: FANTASTIC!*

    https://www.mtbr.com/threads/can-you...rence.1195185/

*in that car crash sort of way.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

How much money has our boy Bushwhacker laid on the line for these inane/trolling bets over his skill vs random internet forum posters here, MTBR, and who knows where else?? I clicked on the link, then closed when I saw the title and poster, but like a moth to flame couldn't look away.... that was a bit more entertaining than the Powerpoint deck I'm procrastinating on. I suppose I'm not surprised it went to 10 pages in 2 days over there, but I'm going to cut my losses at page 2.
