Life in a cubicle sucks!
Stuck in my grey office cubicle, I keep dreaming about the trip I made in early January in the Kootenays.
After two great days stretching our legs in Duffey Lake, we headed out to Nelson where I haven’t ski for a couple of years. From what I’ve remembered, there was a cool vibe, great snow and easy access to untouched pow.
We were in the middle of a high pressure with a bomber snowpack. I thought that most of the good stuff might have been already skied in Roger’s Pass, so we headed south.
As expected, we easily found some great untouched runs of great quality!
We toured around the backcountry of Whitewater and Kootenay Pass which are (I think) the two best places for touring around the Kootenays.
We hiked, skied and repeated for almost 2 weeks the same pattern.
I kinda realized that I’ve truly missed this area and wonderer why I’ve stayed away for that long. Of course, the runs are longer (and usually steeper) in Roger’s but this is quite and awesome place.
Sincerely, if you’ve never made it out there, you should certainly give it a try!
The main resort of the area (Red Mountain and Whitewater)can maybe look that attractive on paper, but they are both quite awesome on skis!
Enjoy the pics, (more at www.snowchasers.blogspot.com)
All right, enough wasted time on the job...
I hope it can lighten up a bit your workday!
Cheers,

I demoed the TECH TALK JONG! pro model this spring and their performance was unparalleled which is good because I ski in a wedge most of the time - bendtheski, 2011
