Silverton Conditions for the Weekend??
We're considering heading down for the weekend, but the weather forecast of high 30's Saturday to 40 on Sunday has me worried that we'll just be rolling up on some serious set-up cement or gnarly slide conditions...Anybody down there or familiar with Silverton Mountain conditions wanna chime in?
Thanks!
p.s. I know this isn't snow conditions forum, but that place is a ghost town.Last edited by Capatain; 02-01-2013 at 09:56 AM.

40s in the town of Silverton do not necessarily mean melting on slope @ SM.
High in town is forecast to be 37? No problem.
I'd bet N faces will be fine: Dolores, SplitSki, String/Thread/Fiber/Sinew, Hundred Acre Woods, Colorardo, Stooges, Cabin skiers right, Riff& Raff skiers right, Waterfall& Manditory skiers right. I'm guessing from Rope-dee on up it will be cold and dry (especially the heli zones) , Concussion, Concussion Woods, Tiger main and Bowling Alley variations will all be decent.Last edited by Buster Highmen; 02-01-2013 at 11:32 AM.

1. Listen to Buster
2. You won't know if you don't go.
3. For all the shit people like to flip Silverton for turn farming, this works in your favor.
4. X2 on N facing protected. I'm guessing it'll be sweet.

I know you probably don't practice reading comprehension very often in "Arrrvada", but I was asking for some firsthand info and forward-looking thoughts on how the snow would set-up with the warming trend predicted for the weekend.
I found two of those threads when using the super-secret (jong-only) search function, but was looking more for discussion on how silverton is the weekend after a mid-week dump, and particularly how people thought this weekend would be after this week's dump.
Foggy and Buster - Thanks for your replies, they were helpful and useful."Last one to the bottom is a Coward"

I'm probably late to the show here, but my feeling is that things will start to get a bit manky this weekend. Even some of the unprotected N>E faces were even getting a little sun affected yesterday (thursday). Skied east to northeast aspects around red mtn pass today and the snow was pretty damn grabby by the time we were done at about 1:30.

Not ENTIRELY trying to be a dick, but all of the things that they posted, first hand, were there in the other threads. Also, the Colorado Weather Conditions thread is a very useful place to get the very info that you seek. Anyhow, enjoy the trip, should be killer.
