I think we’re getting somewhere now.

Buster, it’s a nice shape, kinda Panera-ish, but I’ll never be able to touch one, much less drive it.

The Eagle on the other hand....

Oh God no, I’m much too sensible to do such a thing.

A vacuous comparison then for the Italian American bred.

It is never my intent to impugn the Italian-American population.

I only contest that the good folks at AMC may have had some inspiration from our friends at De Tomaso.

The Eagle was certainly their most original effort. AMX III looks like it would have been an interesting chapter, though.

I think I made the right choice using that Pantera money as a down payment on a house. But I do have my doubts.

Given the choice amongst 4 doors, it's hard to deny a vehicle that inspires poetry such as this:

In your preference for an Eagle? Counselor, your line of reasoning seems elliptic.

Almost like a Venn diagram of any car discussion involving forward-looking design, the utility of wagons vs the pleasure of a sports car, and European vs domestic influence, the AMC Eagle lies at the beginning, middle and end.

Clearly its where the red one and the wood-paneled one approach eachother, but never touch.

    I think.

Years ago in the spring after the lifts had closed, we went for a hike up to ski patches on Cascade at Killington. Feeling pretty accomplished getting some good laps in up there we rested between runs. Out of nowhere a dark blue AMC Eagle wagon with the trademark wood side panels emerged from the work road below us and proceeded to park on the side of the trail. This very eye catching couple got out and God dammit if the didn't have the most smug " I just drove up here in my classy 4wd wood grained wagon and you didn't" look on there faces..... I still remember it to this day. It's like these fuckers had just finished shooting an AMC commercial down in the valley and decided to let off some steam.... They really weren't very friendly either, it was like we were crowding their perfect AMC Eagle world. I won't forget them....

Refined, tasteful, cultured, adventurous, civilized, discerning, indulgent; these are all words I've personally heard used when referring to an AMC Eagle owner.

    Never smug, sir.

    Never.

Phuk yeah. They had a few that I'd be happy to own and this is definitely one of them (but the paint is a bit midwestern gaudy).
