    Thumbs up Gripen recovery fund

edited for pay pal address gripenrecoveryfund@gmail.com
    Hey all,
Pretty much every one here knows Gripen ( ethan) in some respects be it tgr fame, bluehouse skis, golden, ski camps, mountain biking or just all-around great guy.

Unfortunately our great friend has been having some health troubles over the winter and the die hard skier is not able to ski. He experienced some vision changes and after receiving some very helpful tips on tgr in the non ski forum followed up with doctors in Calgary. He was diagnosed as having an Occipital tumor requiring surgery and further chemotherapy/ radiation. Merry xmas.

Being the positive trooper that he is, he is doing his best to get after it, even strapping on some skinny xc skis.

Post surgery he has been doing great! They removed 95 % ish of the tumor. py part is this means little to no work, and having to drive an hour to and an hour back from radiation every day for 6 weeks as that is the closest hospital for this treatment.

I figured being the awesome community this place is known for we could all chip in a small amount be it 5 bucks or even more if possible. Just our way of making someones life a bit easier and keeping the stoke going!

Ethan will chime in here and add a picture of his sweet scar i am sure. Also in the midst of creating a paypal/ email on order to send some $$ to . Once we have all that don't be shy to feel generous!

skibee and I are ready to help right away. But has anyone checked with Gripen to make sure this is needed/wanted?

if so GAME ON!!! (TGR started to help me out 6 years ago after a US motocycle crash, but I had insurance coverage)

maybe a TGR auction fund raiser?

    Thanks for the support guys!!!

I am not very good at accepting help from others but I do think I will probably need some at some point. I am not working at all and lost my work permit here in Canada because of this. The insurance for it appears to be taken care of, but it's still a bit iffy and confusing. It all started while I was still covered by BC Health and no one has raised questions yet, but I do supposedly lose my coverage when I lost my last visa (on visitor visa at the moment). Trying to get another work permit and apply for my permanent residency but this has obviously put quite the twist on everything. If any Bow Valley mags know of a job with a work permit coming up, that would be a massive massive massive help.

Money certainly is tight as my gf and I are pretty much living on her single income and the driving and such is starting to eat into things quite a bit. I haven't been able to work since the beginning of December. Insurance so far is ok, but it could be a problem at some point.

I've had so many offers of places to crash, advice, etc. This board is such an incredible community. I really do appreciate everything that people have and are doing for me, its been such a humbling experience.

Flying the Bluehouse colors in Western Canada! Let me know if you want some rad skis!!

Somebody close to him, set up a Paypal acct.

    I'm in.

You and Big Steve both had your heads cut open at about the same time. Tough times around the ranch...

Heal up mang - start working on stories to tell la chicas how you got the scar...

"so there I was, surrounded by soldiers of Rahim Mohammed Khan, the fiercest warlord in SE Tajikistan. My teammates were all dead. Our mission would be denied by the govt. I had one grenade, six rounds left in my sidearm, and a K-bar knife. No body armor...

    [add detail as necessary]

"...and when I woke up in the hospital, this part of my brain was replaced with bionic DRAM and a nanotube fabric covering the hole. I now have an IQ of 145. The docs had also replaced my dick with a bionic one that expands to 40cm long and 10cm across, self-lubricates and will stay hard As long as i want. And they replaced my tongue with one that oscillates horizontally and vertically at up to 800rpm. I've been confined to the hospital and rehab wards for a long time. You are the first woman I've seen in almost a year. Wanna go someplace quiet and talk?"

Gripen has always seemed unusually reasonable and nice for this place. And smart. It might have been the tumor! Stay happy and smart dude. I've got a tank of fuel for you if a fund is set up.

Sorry to hear about this and good luck with the recovery. TGR is happy to help throw a fundraiser premiere of one of this year's films - without people on the ground there isn't a ton we can do but if someone wanted to take the reins and run with it, we can provide the licensing rights to the movie, can help promote it via our platform and at least a pair of skis to raffle off. We just had someone do a charity show in Seattle that was a huge success - they rented a 250ish person venue, sold tickets for $20 / person, got local shops and companies to kick in prizes and sold raffle tickets at the door and raised a good chunk of change for the recipient.

If someone wants to run with this, email us at filmtour@tetongravity.com and we can talk further about it.

    Cheers.

    Awesome!

But while my girlfriend found it amusing, I have a feeling it was not in the same fashion I did.

And unusually reasonable. That is quite the TGR compliment. I think.

Isn't the story that EJ Hector got kicked in the head by a horse and that's how Kicking Horse pass (and subsequently ski hill) got named? It's a sign dude!

There was a benefit at the Rockwater a couple of weeks ago and the place was packed with ski school and liftees. Not everyone in Golden knows yet. Was at party last night and talking ski and the guy mentioned Bluehouse.. yeah Ethan,, do you know about the cancer .... and he didn't. Ethan knows lots of people in Golden and the word hasn't out. I'm sure a benefit of some at the civic center could fill the place plus get the bar receipts.
