Thanks Dad. Did you see where I linked you to a compass/baro/handjob watch/backup satellite dish you can afford to replace every time you fall off a ladder or get it stuck under a falling tram car or flying piece of heavy-lift helicopter?

I wore it flying until I retired from the Air Force in 99. It took lots of abuse.
Still works great and looks new.
    It is silly light weight.

I got mine in 06 for a special birthday. Got it just when the Aventage came out 'cause I didn't like the update.

Word of advice - Never, EVER send it back to Breitling for service. They charged me something like $590 (only needed a new crystal), and screwed things up like the spring clasp mechanism. Sadly, the crystal isn't available anywhere else.Click image for larger version.

I've sent it to Breitling twice w/out any issues.
I only have the required service performed and not the recommended.
The last time I sent it in the recommended repairs would've exceeded the original cost of $900.
I send it to an authorized dealer for battery replacements.

Never thought about spending to much $ on a watch, but there is some odd pleasure both we both get when wearing them. Just enjoy the way they look.

I guess if I was going to haul drugs from taos to new orleans and bang hippie chicks on the way I'd throw my cheap watch away.

I was in the local TAG boutique a month ago to drop a couple off for service that had been in the watch box for way too long and spent a lot of time looking at their lineup that is been neglecting for some time. The new Carreras (and Porsche collaboration pieces) are fucking awesome.

Know your history, that Monaco is steeped in it. Steve McQueen wore it. It was the first square chrono.

It’s not my style, but I can appreciate it, which seems to be the issue these last few pages since this thread got bumped.

TAG and racing have a long history.

Car collabs are a slippery slope. Porsche watch today, Ferrari track suit tomorrow.

Your point is not wrong, but the TAG Heuer Carerra (not Porsche) dates back to the 60s (again, racing ties as it was introduced for the Carrera Panamericana).

Just so happens our friends in Stuttgart make a car named after the same race because they were so good at it. This modern collection (and the P-car collaboration thereof) is not only tasteful, but it doesn’t reek like an over-cologne’d Persian dropping millions to get a rail-side suite at Monaco... wearing a Ferrari track suit of course.

The race only lasted a couple of years in the 1950s, kinda like how long a Lamborghini blazer would last

I have a Ferrari necktie. No idea how I got it, one day I needed to wear a tie and there it was in the closet on the hanger thing. It's actually pretty nice, silk, dark blue with tiny little pale blue dancing horse logos.. I got a thumbs up and a "nice tie" from the maitre d' at a fancy Italian place in New York one time. And maybe a better table. So there's that.

I also have three watches. One is a Timex that's been dead for a few years. One is a decent-looking slim gold Raymond Weil self-winding job with a leather band. I've worn it maybe four times since I got it as a present ~10 years ago. I'd wear it more but I always forget about it. But it's dressy and I'm not very dressy these days.

I also have a Breitling Colt that I've worn basically every day for the last 20 or so years since I got it as a present on a significant birthday. The crazy thing about that watch is I've only ever had to put a new battery in it once, ever. The watch is pretty nice but the batteries are amazing.

I bought the Timex when I had to send the Breitling in for the battery. I guess when the Breitling's current battery finally dies I'll put a new battery in the Timex and I'll be back to three working watches again
