Was there an intelligent or coherent thought in there? Didn't think so. Put the bong down, and try to focus on something, anything. Maybe you could be a star on Alpinezone.
Maybe you didn't realize (yeah, just maybe) that they were response to different posts. Well, being a loser apparently seems to be better than being you. Probably took you a long time to come up with that screen name, right?
Anyway, ignoring the retards, if you can get a good deal on a used Rolex (box and papers not mandatory), then it can be a reasonable investment to get a few bucks back some day. Many others that also fit the catagory depending on (reasonable) acquisition price are Breitling, (maybe) Omega, Cartier etc, but for a quick cash sale, usually Rolex comes out on top.

Maybe, maybe not. Lots of assumption eh? Like Joe$awdust is the illustrious master of everything, while the guy who hires him is a clueless idiot. No doubt it happens, but probably more often than not it's the other way. But please, let's not let reality get in the way. And of course, Joe Sawdust is completely debt free, and his hirer is awash in debt, yadda, yadda, yadda. Please, feel free to put on the black light and do some free association is that helps your argument.
Coming from one who is obviously completely clueless. Never said I know everything, but apparently I'm some light years (that's a technical term btw) ahead of you. So classy, from screen name onto the posts.

Fuck me running. Bite me cock nice 'n hard's watch averages out at $5,100 used!
No wonder you have that attitude. Anyone who has that much to lay down on a watch must have a huge ego.
And you have to love the irony in someone called "bite me" ragging on someone named "MotherFucker" for lack of deep thought into an internet handle. Fucking loser. lolThe best things in life aren't things.

Only because of the bubble of the last decade - things languished for a bit of the 90s after the bursting of the Japan bubble. r.e. Wine Lafite prices are down 30-50% this year because Chinese tastes have changed. If you are looking at luxury goods like watchs the Chinese market has been huge - the primary consumers (the corrupt elite) are having crackdowns in credit and corruption. There's a hard rain comin'
For "investing" the secondary market (auctions, etc) have much more transparent and better prices. Example: couple year old ghetto bling Cartier watches at 10-20% of retail.

Please stop being a dumbfuck. If you go to Bob's, you pay for his mark-up. He's a retail seller, so you pay retail. If you do it right, you pay wholesale or below, then, when the time comes, you find someone to pay a higher amount, below retail but above wholesale. For a reasonably intelligent human being this shouldn't be too hard, but obviously.........
C'mon man, did you fail Stupid 101? Buy low, sell high, and roll them a few times and make a couple of bucks, and have a beautiful watch.
Look, let's take this slow - is there anything you like? Do you like a really nice piece of beef, a Maine lobster, a fine pair of skis, etc. Well, you could have the cheap one too, but you treat yourself, and get a good one because you like it and can afford it. This REALLY isn't that hard - honest.

This thread has shaped up nicely.
Got the new TAG Aquaracer for Christmas, damn it is one pretty watch and the functionality of the multiple chronos and 10 minute countdown are awesome. Can't wait to race with it this spring.I still call it The Jake.

Dude, that's because the hedge fund guys, financial leaches, and overpaid corporate political winners have made so much money that they can spend silly amounts on crap like that. The rest of us are stuck with that godawful Jeff Koons trash in public spaces, because these philistines have been anointed tastemakers by the whores that gather about them.
Wine's a funny thing, though. Do you piss back into the bottle and try to sell for a profit?

Sorry. You didn't type slow enough. Old fucking fart. Mid-life much (although I have a stinkin' hunch you're on the back end)?
This is fun! 2012 is going out with gin and tonics, IPAs and a douchey bang! Perfect precursor to heading out tonight.
BTW, just to keep this on topic I have some old shitty Casio I use for life guarding. Not sure if it works for diving, driving, or kayaking though. The best things in life aren't things.

I may be mistaken, but Rolex still uses the same movement in many of their watches that they have for the past 50 years. Yet they continue to raise prices even though there's been no R&D since before I was born. Another reason why I moved away from that brand.
I love my Bremont (which I bought used for significantly less than retail [NEVER, ever pay full retail for a watch, car, hooker, etc.!], plus no tax and insured shipping was included in the price), but it doesn't keep time any better than my two $250-350 mechanical watches (A Bernhardt and a Techne (sp?)). As mentioned earlier in this thread, It's something that I bought it for myself, for my own satisfaction.
And I do need these for time-keeping. I actually use them, and rely on them, for this purpose.
I eschew carrying a phone around, except for those times when I expecting an important call or there are work-related issues going on. I can't imaging having a phone whilst skiing, running, backpacking, etc. Who was that? Iscariot? You need a phone with special apps for kayacking? How about watching the position of the sun? Monitoring the direction of the wind? Slaughtering small animals and reading their entrails? Pussy.Daniel Ortega eats here.
