Nice work Monarch!
Makes me think about Recco.
I helped look for skis at Wolfcreek and Monarch 2 weeks ago, and it's amazing how hard they are find. Pure luck we found the guys at Wolf, i gave up on helping the guys at Monarch as i needed to hit the road.
Wow -- I will make my way to Monarch, out of respect and because I often lose things
Seriously Good work, sweet when things end well

Speaking of Recco, what will they (maybe) pick up? I've heard of them picking up skis, is it because of the big lump of metal binding, or the ski itself? I lost a a gopro a few weeks back that's probably under a meter of snow by now (this is Canada, eh), anybody have experience/ thoughts as to whether a Recco would maybe work? Summer recovery is not an option.
PS. big props to Monarch
edit: this actually seems viable, gonna go make my own thread
Damn Pfluff. That's awesome. I must've cut you off at some point because Karma's a bitch. You get your ski found while I do this at Monarch today.....
Can you do anything for me Monarch!!!???
FKNA, Monarch rules.
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
FKNA! Shadam will show you how to fix that with hockey tape.
Sorry to see you banged those up. If it was a 12 ft huck to the flats, and on video, total stoke. If it was catching a tree, not so much.
In any case, be glad your knee/femur/tibia is still intact. Coulda been much worse than a dumpster ski.
Best Regards,

"I wouldn't exactly say I've been missing it, Bob".
In my ski searches I've found 70% well below (always further than I think and the deeper / lighter the snow the further downhill) and 30% augered in at point of release ( auger caused release?)
Good luck!
Edit for posting before finishing reading thread fail.

^^^ personally i wouldn't dream of shooting from a non-carbon shot ski.
the low swing weight and torsional rigidity really can't be beat.
if one has the means, you simply muuust try it.

In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...
Sorry I can't help with that one Soups, but just think of all the memories that's going to make!
PS: Looks like Mirkwood is scheduled to open tomorrow!

In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...
Did it again.
Early season this time.
189 DOS Koala 119 with P14 black and neon yellow.
Right under the Garfield lift about three towers from the top.
12-18" of early season pow over rocks.
One got yanked off double shoulder roll down.
Had about six patrollers plus myself digging to no avail.
I was going to hike the lift line after closing on the 11th but I ruptured my Achilles tendon so no hiking for me.
Bueller?
Damn. I thought I was going to read about a ski recovered after 8 years. Good luck and sorry about the Achilles. Powder cords?
“Almost”? Heh, don’t fuck yourself up!
Shit will be sloppy and…lightening-y tomorrow. I’d give it a few days or more (relatively warm/high pressure on the way). Despite my cat driver showing me pretty convincing Sasquatch prints on the back…your ski will still be there.
Went to Monarch a couple of days ago to look, but no ski.
But the roughly 1000' vertical with light bushwhacking was a psychological success.
First time I've gotten outdoors and done something in 12 weeks.
It might be with lost and found, no dice at the ski patrol but.
They found my ski!
Fuck yes!
That makes three lost, three have come home.
Is that a lot of lost skis over a few decades or normal?
with that kind of luck, you should buy more lottery tickets.
