    Haven't been following ski race closely lately, but Shiffrin skied out early in first run of GS... hope slalom goes better.

    it has not been an easy season for MS and TeamShiffrin -
    Five events is ambitious.
    the back 'injury', covid, a coaching change a month before the Olympics ;
    lots of advertising Time...

    still Love to watch her race !

    Good luck on Wednesday
    ( we'll see if PV overtrained and peaked too early ;
    have to be happy for SarahHector ( the seven year comeback )

    Good luck, MS !

    That was awful, I watched the slowmo twice, definitely an exploded knee I would think.

    When Petra had that bad run and Marta took a spill, I had a feeling that Mikaela was getting worried

    It was brutal. Her foot was damn near 90 degrees displaced.

    It will be a long recovery, but hopefully she can get back to 100%....chances maybe not so good had it been a destroyed knee........?

    Ryan Cochran-Siegle had an amazing run to get Silver and almost gold in the SG!!

    Is it normal to not have ANY practice before a race run? The turn after the jump that everyone was missing seemed almost unfair to have on a course that allowed no practice.

    Umm yeah - that’s kind of how SG, GS and SL ski racing works. DH they get training runs
    SG is kind of a puzzle to figure out during inspection how fast you’re going to be going and therefore what line to take.

    That's what Super G is. You get an inspection on the hill with no gates. Then you race without practice. I think the racers are allowed to get info from the earlier racers, so the cannon fodder can warn the fast people about surprises.

    They get to inspect after the gate set in all those disciplines, right?

    Wowzers. Still sitting there. That snow sure looks funky.

    I mean it sucks. Too much pressure on herself. She didn't blow a knee or twist her ankle off though.

    Predictable after the GS race with that wierd super arid snow.

    She needs to breath. Just a ski race. She still has a lot of ass kicking to do. Also no pressure in the speed events.

    Does anybody know who was sitting next to her on course? Couldn't tell.

    It's in her head now. Wouldn't be surprised if she drops out ala Simone Biles. Maybe come back for the combined.

    Gotta wonder if her skis are being properly tuned for the conditions.
