Just to see her happy is good enough for me. I don't care about records. She is a good person. Period.

This is why we have sports, so we can see the good in people when there is so much awful being shown by some. Thank you Mikaela

Smooth, yes. Effortless, eh, I'm betting that's an illusion.

I'm so glad she was finally able to break through and get back to the top. It has been a long difficult year for her.

Smooth and effortless - like Ingemar doing that box jump at 60y/o!

Incredible for Mikaela, that primal scream of joy was sincere. Very happy to see her firing again and showing her greatness

Boy she skied clean up top.
Without that speed scrub at 1:10-1:15 into her run she woulda won!
You can even hear her vocalize her mistake in the audio.
And first Super G race of the year for her, no?
    Go Schiff!

In an interview, she said she was 98% happy with her run and having fun while skiing, and 2% motivated.

This points to good race watching for the rest of the Championships. She has 3 more events to go.

She is an amazing racer !
    Stenmark, Hirscher, Shiffrin.

    the people who claim she is competing against a 'weak' field . . . Gut and Vhlova would be competitive in any era ; LV was The Champion who led the way ;

it is such a Pleasure to watch her race
( I really don't care if she never wins again ( and I believe she will ( win again. and again. and again... ))) - tj

First Super G in over a year and she only did very limited training even. She had not done Super G and started training in the 3rd week of January. She also made this comment:
National federations only get a limited number of starting spots for each race at world championships, and Shiffrin pointed out she was reluctant to take a teammate’s place. But with Shiffrin as the 2019 gold medalist, the U.S. ski team gets an additional starting berth for the Feb. 9 super-G race.

“That’s nice because that opens it up a little bit,” she said.
So shows she is also thinking of the team and what is best for US Skiing.

USA only get 4 racers on the World Championship entry for Super G, and as the reigning SG World Champion, Mikaela earned her right for her to get a fifth spot on the entry, so there is no reason why she would not take that spot.
She also needed a good result in SuperG to get her World Cup Startling List points higher, this is very important in determining her starting position at the Olympics in China/2022.
