TR: Day One, Monarch Storm Skiing
It's been a rough start for Colorado. Most resorts haven't hit the 75" mark for the season, and several are lucky if 25% of their terrain is open. The storms rolled in earlier this week for many locations, dropping anywhere from 10-20" of light fluffy powder... meaning I called in sick yesterday and headed down to Monarch with Powtron. They only reported 3" overnight, but I'll let you be the judge of the validity of that report.

Well now, that sure was fun yesterday...be careful though, still some rocks and logs to be had (my shin can attest to that).
Overall, though it is amazing how quickly Monarch went from closed to this. You should have been here yesterday!

Looks good! Good to see a gem like Monarch deliver.
However, I’m sure a few stumps and rocks came up to bite your boards!

I concur. Lots of untracked when you look for it. More people that I thought would be there was no waiting on lifts. I got a couple of dings but damn was it deep in places. Too fucking fun!
