Hmm well I've been drinking so I'll have to confirm this in the morning. But ricin is pretty deadly stuff. Wikipedia says 22ug per kg of body weight is enough to kill you. That's something like .0000022%. Assume wiki is off by a factor of 100 and you still get 0.00022% and I'm sure there are deadlier things than ricin it just was the first thing that came to mind.

not interested in addressing the other stuff, I don't follow it enough to feel comfortable arguing about it without spending more time reading. And other people in here seem to be comfortable dealing with that. I'm just saying that %s don't tell you the whole story.

On the realistic side of the argument the US does produce a mere 8% vs China's 23% of real emissions (things that are bad for you,I, and our children) and that is legitimate progress which you had no part in other than your bitchin on this forum. So if I were someone who was interested in factual information I might just check out what the 30,000+ PHD's had to say about global climate change based on human devouring of our planet. But I'm sure that doesn't really count cuz they're all stupid and you don't drive a vehicle, heat your home, flush your toilets, or use electricity.... my bad
Where do you get this shit?

As for the PhD's, 97% of climate scientists agree that global warming is occurring and that it is caused by humans. So yeah, we are listening to the scientists.

Did you watch the video I linked to?

    petitionproject.org
Dudley J Hughes, "carbon dioxide levels are a blessing not a problem"
but after some YouTube video research I have realized I am a moron and have no idea what i am talking about and concede to everyone who called me ignorant and I officially apologize, you win. I am no longer going exhale.

Petition project is easily debunked (google it - way too many articles to link to). There is no proof of qualifications of signers, and signatories have included various members of the Spice Girls, Charles Darwin, and characters from Star Wars.

Signatories of this petition represent a tiny fraction (~0.3%) of all US science graduates (petition cards were only sent to individuals within the U.S). 0.1% of signers Have a background in climatology. Many have been shown to have financial interests in claiming that climate change is false. If you have chest pains would you seek the advice of a geologist? Didn't think so. You'd need a heart specialist, or at worst, any physician to help you. Citing anyone other than climate scientists for opinions on climate science is absurd.

The petition was intended to mimic a true scientific paper that was endorsed by the National Academy of Science and was so misleading that the National Academy issued a news release stating: "The petition project was a deliberate attempt to mislead scientists and to rally them in an attempt to undermine support for the Kyoto Protocol. The petition was not based on a review of the science of global climate change, nor were its signers experts in the field of climate science."

Several studies conducted independently (Oreskes 2004, Oreskes 2007, Doran and Zimmerman (2009), Anderegg et al. (2010), Cook et. al., 2013) have shown that 97% of climate scientists agree that humans are causing the climate to change, and that anthropogenic greenhouse gases are causing global changes to the climate. These views form the scientific consensus on climate change.

Many sites used in this reply.

Dudley j Hughes is an exploration geologist who owns oil and gas companies. <sarcasm>Definitely we should believe his opinion over the consensus of the world's climate scientists. No doubt he is unbiased and his oil companies do a great deal of research on global warming. </sarcasm>

Im just happy to see other people in the snow community are also switched on to a very real issue, that is going to affect the thing we love, very shortly. When Jeremy Jones said that only about 1% of us (snow sport community NOT population) are actively making changes for the better, its seems pretty bleak.

But thanks to some peoples ignorance, (dont need to name names) its hopeful to see not everyone denies something, just cause they cant accept they are part of the problem.

Im not a scientist so i really have weight to argue for or against. I just follow what the people who do know are stating. People that deny scientific fact remind me of what people must have been like when someone came up with the idea the Earth was round. Everyone thinks its crazy to begin with (human nature with change), but then soon everyone believes it. I just hope intelligence takes over from greed and people wake up before its too late.
