Pretty sweet, I'd heard the name but didn't recognize the tunes.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

I like it/them. Very Sgt. Pepper-y. Dude sounds a ton like Lennon too.

I put "It feels like we only goes backwards" in the "tune that does it for you" thread a few weeks ago. Lonerism is solid all the way through.

These are off the first album Innerspeaker, which was also damn good imo.

Apocalypse Dreams is definitely my favorite on Lonerism. Nice to hear some piano and variation. Innerspeaker was great, but did start to feel a little repetitive. I knew the second I heard Be Above It that Lonerism was going to be a strong step forward. It was a sweet bonus when this and the new Ty Segall came out at almost the same time.

Perhaps because you're seriously out of touch in terms of the pop cultural sonic zeitgeist? (FWIW, you might wish to change your location from "In The Know" to "Behind the Times" or "Late to the Party").

They were on the bill at both Outside Lands and Lollapalooza this summer, so I would consider them to be pretty well-known.

Heck, they're so popular that school kids in NYC are covering their songs:

    ^^lol

Good band, but, yeah, been around for awhile. How the hell you have managed to not hear about them in the snow community is a great question.

Elephant rocks pretty hard. Reminds a bit of Black Mountain.

I totally missed this thread from almost 7 years ago.
Apparently I've been living under a rock.

I've been hearing Tame Impala's latest release on the radio (Patience) and had to find out who sang it. The new stuff is definitely more on the polished pop side. However, I've been going back through their older stuff and it is really good.

    Yer gonna have fun

Pond are cool too, I particularly enjoy their first few albums that Kevin Parker played drums on. Bunch of Pond guys play with Tame Impala when they tour. Both bands put on a great show.

Tame Impala Deezer Session right after Currents was released:

Heh, my daughter's first concert when they played Brooklyn a year or two ago (I guess she was 14). Of course she came back with a Phoenix t-shirt...I'm pretty sure she started listening to them as a result of what I was playing in the car at some point when we were spending hours driving somewhere for skiing. Might have been listening to Melody's Echo Chamber at around the same time, but that one didn't take with her.
