Thoughts? I loved it. Could totally taste the cereal and the sugar. Only grabbed one, I will purchase a four, next time.

I just found a newish brewpub in Redmond, OR, that only serves cask-conditioned ales, served via beer engines; their stout is very good. Recommended.

McMenamins. Drank plenty of the Terminator. However, isn't that company sort of like the McDonald's of brew pubs?

i lived a block from the high st. cafe eugene in the mid to late 80s and they were definitely not the mcdonalds of brew pubs. they found success. whatever they are now, terminator has stayed pretty consistent and if i end up at a mcmenamins now that's still what i have.

Good ol High Street. That and 19th St, right? I dunno, all I am saying is that their schtick seemed a little canned to me.

high st. was the first microbrewery in eugene since prohibition i think. it fit right in. it didn't seem schticky at the time. it was unique. then they started to expand and seemed to try to stay true to the original personality and that was their apparent on-site culture, decoration, workers, etc. it did seem to become premeditated over time. lots of one unique thing is no longer unique, plus at the same time they were growing , the microbrewery scene was starting to take off.

i have many fond memories of trying to drink myself whole at high street and staggering home only to realize i still had a hole.

    Update:

Both are decent...but prefer the 14th Star over the BBC. The 14th Star is a little smoother.

It is almost that time of year for all the new releases. Stout as dark as your mom and as thick is 50k mile motor oil.

Let see how bad GI can screw up BCBS this year.

I always liked it, too. Probably haven't had one in 20 years. With all the U.S.-based breweries these days I think it's actually more difficult to find imports.

Brewed a Mexican Chocolate Imperial stout with Hatch Green Chilis, Cinnamon, Cocoa nibs, and Vanilla paste. Super rich.

14th star is from my town. Those guys are righteous. However, I am not partial to their beer. Honestly, I'd rather drink stale bongwater. To each, their own. I think their stout would be OK without the maple.

Did not like this at all. It was the only stout (only dark beer in fact) to choose from so I gave it a try. Too sweet, too much of the cookie flavor. Stay away. Almost set it down without finishing it.
