What was the last size he was on? The 85's? If so that's a huge jump and he will most likely have issues for a bit with the 115's. It could discourage him.

That said I bet by the end if the season the 115's would be fine. Any way to find, borrow, etc some 100's or 105's to start the year?

I think you're right. We've always been leery of making Owen ski on something that's just too much for him, and I think we actually underbought a couple times, but we're figuring it out. Something right in between there would be perfect. The Moments are probably better than the K2, and may come into play later in the season if he grows and gets stronger on skis.

Porter's in Truckee had some K2 twintip kid's demos for sale in the lengths you're looking for when I was there a couple weeks ago. $100-150 with 7DIN bindings. I scored Owen some 128cm Bad Seeds.

My 5yo will start the season on 100's. Shes tall and strong and skis more than most so they may be too small by mid season.

Using the ballpark of between chin and nose i'd think your lad needs something in between those two pairs.

100cm Elan shit rentals with Rotafella Jr Tele bindings - these are going away - free to good home - you pay shipping

110cm K2 Juvy with Silvretta Pure Kidz AT bindings - probably going to mount these tele - or he can just ski 'em short in the backcountry

118cm Volkl Mantra with Marker 7.0 bindings - maybe just bump the AT binders up onto these? tele?

128cm K2 Bad Seed - put the Markers on these?

130cm Head WC iRace combi with Tyrolia 7.5 bindings - is he really ready to race these?

138cm Volkl Ledge - on deck park ski - next year or the year after

138cm Volkl Gotama - on deck freeride ski - next year or the year after

boots are Technica Race Pro 70 and Garmont Teledactyl - I think he needs some Full Tilts for backcountry and freeride days

^^^^I might have a pair of 100s he can borrow this season, but probably won't know until Thanksgiving when god son #2 gets on snow. The will be at KW.

I course it goes with out saying, but when hanging at Bubs talking to the ladies, the Moments will make him look more sickgnar.

My god Owen has a nice quiver.

I burnt my family out on skiing when we first moved to CO, they don't get up early and they hate the cold. After about 5 years of my daughter not having anything to do with skiing, she just asked if she could go with a friend this weekend as a b-day party.

I am stoked.... she grew out of her gear but her bro's last set up fits fine.

There may be hope for my family.

We got a sitter on Saturday so the wife and I could ski together. My kiddo was really pissed that she didn't get to go skiing. As pissed as she was, I smiled inside. And she got to go skiing the next day. And sledding both days (she's a daredevil on the sled).

And she totally knows that snow activities (skiing, sledding) = hot chocolate.

And the indoor ski school once a week is money.

so i hear a lot of adults talking about starting their kids at 2-3 years old. and for the first time, i heard somebody say they won't until 4 because their legs aren't strong enough yet to repeatedly, safely perform the basic maneuvers. and then i saw my sons legs getting all tangled up in the skies thinking that a simple twisting of MY knees like that would undoubtedly obliterate what is left of my already reconstructed acl and more meniscus. he's got great balance, strong, fearless so far, but nevertheless, he's still only 2 3/4 years old.

just wondered if anybody had an opinion for waiting longer to make a safer intro. he's already been up 3 times and is going again on sunday and loves it, so it's a little late for me.

Right? He's always had great upper body shit. Hoping he'll be into it by the time he's old enough to get after the big show, but not my call at that point. He is an extremely pretty skier to watch. Nothing to do with me. Racing technique just stuck for some reason and it pays off everywhere. He's also rocking some pretty stiff skis that are about 6 inches taller than he is this year. Thanks for noticing.

Spook, don't worry about it. They're fine at three. Earlier the better, just let 'em have fun and when he's 8 or so get him into a race program to build the foundation. A few years there then they have the muscle memory and technique in their bones for life.
