I know both places really well. I’ll ping you before you arrive...I usually do after camp drop off until around lunchtime so my wife doesn’t get pissed. Haha.

Anyone going to be at bluegrass? It would be fun grabbing a beer. It's been way too long since I've attended.

San Juan National Forest plans to close forest

A 2nd fire started Friday. It was smokey on Lizardhead and Telluride over the weekend. I can't imagine Bluegrass won't be smokey.

It may be moot, but regarding plans to ski, there are few options and going fast. A ranger told us he saw a guy coming out the Cross Mtn trail Friday carrying skis. I'm guessing he was up between Gladstone & Mount Wilson:

The annual family ski commute to Telluride begins tomorrow...

I'll be running around the ski resort, on and off skiing with wife, kids, 2 year old and rest of the time taking photos and skiing into the rocky sections.

    PM to meet up etc

The skiing has been pretty good the last few days. Did a solo mission on Silver Chute on Silver Mountain on July 5th and did 3 laps on a perfect chute just above Alta Lakes on the 6th. I'll have a proper video done eventually but they are all on my instagram via link on my signature.

I'm headed back to Telluride the next two weekends and then out until July 31st when I drive the family car back to CA. I haven't hit Imogene Pass yet but Alta Lakes is so damn fun given how little hiking is required.

....are you looking for a job?

Hit me up for some laps, I'm on injured reserve for a few months coming back from a gnarly compound fracture, but the doc gave me the green light to ski opening day ... very cautiously. I'm a snowmaking foreman and a groomer for the hill.. the death strip is coming along, hopefully we have more than one run opening day.

Anyone interested in a tour this week? Coal bank/deer creek? Coverage was good in the trees at Purg today.

No action in this thread, despite that the San Juans have been having an excellent early season. And it’s even somewhat stable (by San Juan standards).

I’m pretty lame and mostly ski low angle trees, sometimes with my 15yo daughter, but I’ll share a few pics of recent SWCO adventures.

This one takes an explanation. We recently got a fat Ebike (https://www.radpowerbikes.com/produc...ctric-fat-bike) for commuting and general car-replacement sort of stuff. My daughter came up with the (brilliant) plan of using it to access ski terrain up in La Plata Canyon. I towed her a few miles back to Bedrock Canyon. Typically that’s a long and slow slog on a nearly flat dirt road. We crushed it in 15 minutes, and it was a blast. Ditched the bike and skinned up to the ridge just below tree line.

    It’s a rough life.

Sorry for all the kid-stoke and lack of serious gnar. It’s all I got. I’m old and lame.

^^Cool pics man, looks fun. I like the kid stoke. Nice job raising a lil BC ripper, and keeping it safe and mellow.

Nice photos. Heard the la platas are having a good year. Touring with your children is as good as skiing gets. Congratulations

15 year old girls skinning and towing behind ebikes counts as stoke in my book.

Slogging back from Neptune Creek (across from Bedrock) a month ago, we were wishing we were EACH on eBikes (or sleds). I did not consider eBikes could tow....especially 170-200 lbs skiers. What's the towing capacity and range?
    Best regards, Terry

She’s only ~105 lbs so not a full-sized male adult. There’s certainly no published towing capacity and range as I’m pretty sure we are the first people to use the e-fatty for ski-access towing.

People couldn’t even really wrap their heads around it. I was hauling ass and towing a teenager. Going 12mph effortlessly.

It’s certainly condition-dependent. But when the LPC is packed down enough it works really well.

Also, didn’t mean to discount the terrain of Sam’s. I didn’t ski there with my kid, and I recognize it’s very-much avalanche terrain.

Skied (no kid) Cemetery today. No pics of skiing, but it was (really) good.

View of Cemetery from top of Chattanooga on 550. We started skiing just below the unnamed peak right of center into the nice glade in the right side of the photo.
