    We're doing God's work here.

I agree that inland "sea" is a relative term, same as the African great lakes.

Anyway, I hope y'all don't miss this year's whale migration on the Great Lakes; I suggest a viewing point on the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes to get the best view for the Lake Michigan migration.

Sea can also mean a large lake.

Language is fluid and it’s driven by usage. If people call it a coast, it’s a coast. You can argue yourself blue over that all you want, it’s like pissing in Lake Superior. Doesn’t change much.

    I felt relieved.

That is cool. Amazing it’s like a small city. Someone is probably lounging in a cabin playing PS4 or something lol. People eating in the galley, others working the shift. So crazy. I wish I’d done something like that at least for a while.

Check out the multi-use trail system from Duluth to maybe Grand Portage with great views from the North Shore, IIRC.

    Edit:

When completed, the Gitchi-Gami State Trail (GGST) will be an 89-mile non-motorized, paved recreational trail between Two Harbors and Grand Marais, Minnesota, along Lake Superior's beautiful and historic North Shore. Several segments of the trail, totaling over 30 miles, are complete. A new section between Silver Bay and the West Road in Beaver Bay, just east of the Beaver Bay trailhead, was completed in summer 2012 and was officially opened in June 2013. Another short segment connecting the tunnel under Hwy 34 with the Lutsen Ski Hill Road was completed in fall 2013. A short segment connecting the trail to the parking area in Schroeder was completed in 2014.

Anderson: “By the way, Fitzgerald, how are you making out with your problem?”

Fitzgerald: “We are holding our own.”

Anderson: “Okay, fine. I’ll be talking to you later.”

At 7:15 p.m. the Fitzgerald disappears from the Anderson’s radar. More than an hour later, the Coast Guard begins an active search. The 29 crew members aboard all perish.

Every year it gets me. The day was driven into my memory by my maternal grandmother who lost a neighbor on the ship; much of the crew was from the north coast of Ohio.

Heard an interview on CBC last night regarding the ship. A marine expert suggested the ship went down in about one minute. Jebus.
