Maybe you need better friends. Cuz' I have friends out there, too, and they are doing everythin they can to get ready to protect themselves and their kids, but they are avoiding the doom and gloom while they do it.

Fuck's sake, one of them just posted a picture of a stripped grocery store shelf, while noting that all of the few remaining egg cartons each had one broken egg in it. He couldn't help but laugh at the dumb hoarders who were too lazy to remove a broken egg and replace it with a non-broken, and were too cheap to spend $2.69 on 11 eggs, although they'd spend that much on 12. He also noted that the last remaining milk had expiration dates of about a week out (everything later than that was already gone, stripped from teh BACK of the shelves), and guessed that people weren't thinking too much about the fact that they were stocking up for a potentially lengthy power outage. He was thrilled that all the cheap beer was gone and what was left was good shit.

I went out yesterday to get some necessities (booze) and was oh-so-pleased with myself to return with a box of 18 bottles of beer (Corona, but yeah it's a hurricane so I was in el modo for it). To my SHOCK AND HORROR they were those 7 oz pony bottles. Oh, the humanity! But I'm drinking them anyway, 2 at a time.

Thank goodness I picked up a bottle of Mt Gay rum and have some wine and sambuca too.

I'll need it if these winds get any stronger! :-O

I will try to be sensitive to their plight as the storm clouds approach and I only wish that I could be there to provide comfort to them as well as price gouge the shit out of your idiot unprepared friends.

On a slightly down note, it was 80F here, but I had a slight head wind riding my bike home for lunch.

Good luck to all you east coaster, there is a reason I don't live there (while waiting here for the next earthquake.)

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...
