Is there anything more boring than being shut-in for 24-48hrs during a hurricane?

Fuck yes there is: sitting in a hospital for what's going on Day 4. Checked in Thursday night expecting to be told I had a respiratory viral infection. A couple hours of testing later, I'm told that I'll be spending some time with them b/c of pulmonary embolism.

Thing is, they're just taking blood and adjusting the meds. I'm not really still "sick." SOOOOO fucking bored!!!!

They still haven't said when I get to leave...they just keep saying: it'll be a few days...BORED!!!

Maybe pulmonary embolisms aren't always a big deal or maybe it's with older people but the wife nurse mentioned she has NEVER had a patient live until the ambulance arrives after suffering one...

Don't know how difficult it is for you to talk but walk about and find some elderly people and strike up a conversation. It can be quit a revelation the life experiences some people have. I always get a kick of Veterans stories but one year in Barbados I spend the better part of a morning talking to Lady who help build WW2 Spitfires ! She was an amazing person and totally cool !

Considering some of these poor souls may not have family or family able to visit so perhaps your boredom will be eliminated by a feeling of doing good. Who knows you might find a retired Comic..... Good Luck and get well soon

Basically, I was told that had I not come in, I would have died...but not that I'm being treated, there's almost no danger. That's the frustrating part...you feel pretty OK and they've told you that there's almost no danger...but here I sit.
