Cat Ski Options around Nelson
Headed up with a group of 5 in late Feb. for 3 days of Cat skiing. Since we are driving up from Spokane - would like to keep our options in the Nelson area.. Baldface and Retallack are all booked up - so that leaves Valhalla, Big Red and Wildhorse. Any experience with these 3?

It may have been covered before, try the search function. Having said that, I did a day at Wildhorse 5 or so years ago. While the terrain could not be described as super challenging, the guides were fun and the snow was dry and deep. One thing about guided anything, the guide's terrain selection has to fit the lowest common denominator (as it applies to the groups skill).

Nice stoke El Hefe. Damn i gotta get back to interior BC again......
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Skied with Valhalla, shot calla...A must if in the Nelson area, I've had one of the best snow days of all time with them. Terrain is choice, service is killer, guides are laid back and love to crush the laps with the right crew. Headed there the third week in Feb for two days! See ya there or whitewater or red. -ad
PS- Skied with Baldface a few years ago and they are also setting the standard with service, snow and terrian. Wish they offered single day trips.

I also had a great trip with Baldface last year!

Any thoughts on the best way to get all the people and bags from Spokane? Be almost impossible to fit into a rental SUV, and if we rent a full Van we would lose 4wd...
Ideally we'd just hire someone with a van to drive us there and back, definitely better than paying $250 a head for the shuttle..

If you're going to spend the bucks on heli skiing you're probably better off to look at an outfit like Mica.

Retallack isn't much further.
Here's some of their links for transpo stuff: http://www.retallack.com/about/how-to-get-here/
$175 rt Spok-Nelson: http://www.gowildtours.com/ may beat renting a couple of SUVs for a week depending on the # of folks in your group (they list discounts for groups...)Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

Valhalla and Big Red Cats are teamed up with combo deals.
Did 2 days with each a couple years back and both were excellent. You won't be disapointed

Mica looks amazing! But they're almost completely booked already. Last year we went up in January without any reservations. We had a couple of options for last minute slots and Eagle Pass was one of them. The lodge being close to the Hwy does have it's advantages and it seems to dump near the ferry landing? Just for asking for future reference.
We rented a mini van for $400 for 9 days. It was dumping the whole time. I didn't have any problem w/o 4wd and having flexibility is the key to the powder hwy.

Here are some videos from a number of locations around Nelson. You might also consider Snowwater Heli where you can do combination packages of heli/cat skiing. All of them usually have good snow and conditions and you really can't go wrong with any of them. Have a good time!

If you're thinking of going toward Revelstoke, K3 and Mustang are really good operations, as well as Selkirk Wilderness Skiing and Monashee Cats. Again, any of these are good operations with excellent snow.
