"Yosemite’s Tioga Road will open on Friday, the first day of summer, but initially only for two hours a day.

The park announced that motor vehicles and bicycles will be allowed on the trans-Sierra route from 10 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. daily."

Highland Lakes Road only goes 1.3 miles then it’s 2’ of snow.

Highland Lakes Road is open all the way to the lakes and is in relatively good shape.

Ohhh...that doesn't look good. What was your infraction? or fracture? or whatever resulted in your ban?

They took out the six larger chunks of pelvis, I assume they left the rest of the thirty they counted in the scans.
The ribs were below noise level.

    I Ruined my helmet, too.

Yikes! You're a fast healer. I rode the chair with you one powder day at BV last year. I remember your saying that you were freshly back after a bad crash. I'd ban myself after that too. Glad you're back up and skiing.

I'm off to Bend tomorrow and then the OR coast for a few days, Mike. I'll miss one Tue with Bert, but will be back for the first Tue in Aug. Maybe we can get back up there then? Work on powdrhound in the meantime.

    Central California

    Leaf Peepers

It’s not quite yet prime but almost.

I recommend Hwy 4 E over Ebbetts to 89 over Moniter. I went thataway this morning.

The descents into the East Side over Moniter and Sonora Passes are fkn amazing.

Damn right, and probably leave some people stranded at the village.

Didn't the Co-op pay for shuttle last year?

Hope folks don’t decide to ski home to save a dollar and fuck a knee up in the sunnyside mank (a gaper friend of mind did that about a decade ago).

Other than that is sounds reasonable. Free sticker with a season pass or staying at the lodge? Only pay if you are in town for the weekend. Cost a family maybe $10-20 more than their vacation and it pays for the service. I’d support that kind of charge at KW. But I have a pass, so does not impact me.

well, village laps during the day may not be as crowded. I'll have a few tix in my pockets.

BUT, if its between $8/day (or $190/year!) to get my family up and down the mountain, we'll probably drive and I think a lot of village dwellers might think the same. The result will be even more parking chaos.

Gotta get my kids used to the morning skintrack, true "ski in, ski out" routine.

I picture myself buying a 10 ride punch card. No way I would use it 50+ times.

most people won’t ride the bus 50 times

you’ll have to have tickets there aren’t any punch cards and you’ll have to buy them at the General Store or at the ticket office - more chaos

Oh. I read that wrong. Only the fancy season pass holders get a bus sticker.

Yeah. Now I’m pissed. And I won’t even be skiing BV this winter.

How did Dodge beat BV to the punch this year. 100% of the mountain open tomorrow. BV not getting backside until the 14th?

BV has its challenges. We’d rather be ready when we’re open instead of half assed. BV has terrain considerations that DR does not.

I’ve not been part of the set up of a mountain for the first time in ten years. It feels kinda weird.

I’m doing something new and different this season - part time at the mountain and part time in the meadow at the xc center.

I’m stoked to be part of something new and different at BVAC and to continue to patrol at the mountain.

C’mon GiBo, it’s Bear Valley. They never get the mountain running full steam until the first team weekend usually
