Good skiing with you yesterday, Mike! Looks like we'll get some more snow next week.

Yeah, Bear has been underwhelming so far. The website suggested that Polar opened today and they actually groomed most of the frontside. The backside will be open for the weekend, so maybe they are finally hitting something of a stride? The lack of Koala during the early season seems pretty lame: hopefully they end up getting it going too.

I avoided the 108 shitshow today. Let the masses do their thing. Traffic was insane late in the day Friday. I usually leave the mountain by 2 to avoid the worst of it. Yesterday was bad but tolerable.

I’m told BV did get the backside open and the skiing was good but lift lines were bad. Hwy 4 also overrun with snow play.

We hit traffic going down hill that Tuesday. Near Sonora was really backed up and thinned out after the 120 merge.

Kind of bummed to hear Boulder Over was groomed. That was one part of one of our favorite runs. I really enjoyed watching my kid connect turns through the bumps because there was really no other option.

Shit, my boy went up yesterday. I shoulda had him grab those mounting tools. Or at least say hi. Didn't think about it. If you saw a three kids grilling and hanging out next to a gray 4runner up where you park, that was him.

BO is almost always groomed. It's really just a bypass of Granite Bowl. When there's good coverage you'd probably be skiing the Shots and come in skiers right of GB anyway.

    Yeah.

Our favorite run was one of the Shots and BO bumps around the bowl. Had the bowl been open, and had snow, yeah, we would have continued on.

DR sustained considerable damage in the windstorm early this week. Hundreds of trees uprooted. They might not open this weekend. Chair 8 de-roped over a seven tower span. It might be done for the season. Radio comm shell destroyed. Wind hit 130mph before the anemometer blew apart.

No official announcement yet but stay tuned.

Power out in Dorrington meant I couldn't work on Monday. Conditions were pretty dang good at Bear Valley, so I got a decent consolation prize. There was just enough light snow so that hitting the hardpack underneath was a rare occurance. A decent warmup for how things will be after this monster storm.
