The power was out down to Arnold and Bear delivered knee deep slow pow today, KUDOS. This last storm was a doosize. Today had to be one of the best of the season, despite the crowd... still not@ Tahoe levels. 9:05 to 10:45 on the168 cm board and pow skis till 4. Thanks Bear Valley. I have photos, but need to do my TGR homework for posting. Possibly Polar Express will open tomorrow, PG &E seemed to look like they were close to finishing work around Camp Connel turn out, we'll see.

Windstorm knocked is out for 5 then the snow turned the lights off for about 3. Parts of Arnold are still dark.

That's crazy. Right there on The Face. Have watched probably 50 hucks off that over the years. He's lucky that fireman was riding the lift that day. Damn.

Blessings for sure on the rescue effort and for Mr. Heinrach. Being able to watch what went down from the Chair and properly respond as quick as he did was fer-sure lucky CPR saves lives, as an ex instructor and past lifeguard, you are only as good as the last time you practice your skills. I am thankful my workplace makes it a priority in our Safety Program.
“If I can say anything about my experience, it’s to always ski with a buddy.” Your life might depend on it.
I am bummed that Covid has kept me from reaching out to more of my riding/skiing buddies. I spend a lot of time resort riding solo and I have had major injuries where I was lucky to have the injury under the chair lift (Funitel actually). The carpooling aspect of the Buddy system was always foremost in my brain, but this story helps with the reset on that thinking.
I committed and bought the Bear Pass for the season, so I am available for partnering if the stars align (PM me).

Central California
I was hiking and skiing another part of the mountain alone when that went down because I didn’t want to wait in line. If something like that had happened to me at that same time they would have found me dead hours or days later.
If Justin hadn’t been right under the chair he’d likely be dead.
Should be a story on the Sacramento CBS TV news this evening.Last edited by ~mikey b; 02-03-2021 at 03:25 PM.

Great well rounded write up Mike, with a very happy ending that we all love to see when these things come up, but often don't.
